Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

DAMIT lol....Well thanx killercivic. I need that.

But for 2 g's...and considering my motor has 160k on it. what should i do?? drop 2 g's into my car and pretty much rebuild it with all aftermarket parts...2 g atleast or drop in a b16 and crank up the power???

How fast do you think the d16 can get? If i did everything posible to it. I know the b16 can be low 13s or even 12s but how could the d16 do???

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

People build up d16's and turbo them and get anywhere from 200-400whp. Depends on how well you build it and the parts you use (as well as damn good engine managment).

its not good and its not bad, you just cant boost as high as you could with lower compression...^^^^
i say keep the d16, get some pistons, rods, cam ,and valve set up then boost it. it will cost a little$$ but its worth it. you dont need vtec to be fast.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

NOT TRUE, you don't need vtec to be fast.

ok man here you go, get a b18 LS, there about 1,000 to 1,100, turbo that. keepthe motor you have now in the car so you can still drive it. you are only gonna get real power if you turbo it. you can stick all the bolt on's you want to that b16 and will never ever ever ever beat a turbo b18, well if it blows up when you are racing it maybe.

parts....... get a nice 16g turbo from a mitsu, and the 450cc injectors also from mitsu you can get them on ebay for like 20$, get the manifold from one of the other civics (cant remeber witch one) and use that. do a little work to the motor if you wanna run more the 7 or 8 psi's if not the stock motor is the best if you wanna turbo. you can do little stuff cheep like ARP head, main and rod bolts is a must! you can get all that for under 200$. well good luck man hope this helps.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

Well the b18 would be nice.....but i dont have enough money for that. If i went with a b18 i would get the b18c5. Its like a $2500-$3000 motor. I aint got that. Im thinkin i could do the b16 buy and dropped in for around $2500. i would want a b18 if i could find everything i need for around 2g's. but i think thats about impossible.

So i think were at about 50-50 here. well and 1 person for b18. What should i do?? is the d16 that nice of a motor to keep?? more ppl have said i should keep it than i thought.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

I put a b16 in my hatch and couldn't be happier. A quick two grand for a low mileage and a big upgrade power wise. the best part is it's still stock so there so many ways to beef it up.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

well i think you would spend alot more money trying to get a B16 in there then a B18B, and like I said, turbo that b18 and no b16 could touch you. hell turbos are more fun anyway.

The Type R is more like $4,000-$5,000, and a bad idea to boost unless you know what you're doing (if you decided to go that route).

have you considered trying to find a b18 out of a wrecked teg???

i prefer the d series (z6/y8) because it's cheaper. i'm looking to daily drive, not go to the track. jer perfers the b series because it has more HP potential, he's all about going to the track. the debate is almost daily conversation in our house.

y8, msd switch, stage 2 clutch, dc sports header, shipping = $1400 (p28 route a little more $$$)

b16, lsd tranny, axles, HASport linkage, HASport mounts, ecu, shipping = $2300

his b16 smokes my y8....well duh, it should. on the flip side, he already spent more than me and doesn't have header or clutch.

it really depends on the person, everybody is different.

it really depends on what you plan to use the car for. im likely gonna be leaving my engine alone to keep up the longevity and work on other things like my stereo and get a few performance bolt-ons like exhaust and other easier things that wont mess everything up and ruin the reliability.

i figure if i do a swap it'll be a ZC cuz its just easier and cheaper. its a D series so it doesnt need all the different linkage and crap to get that extra kick.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

I think im just gona do a b16....i like the b18 but i dont want it. I mean i know its a better motor but i dont have the money for it. i can do a b16. I know either way that imma need a motor swap, cuz the stock motor has 160k on it. So i might as well go big and drop in a b16.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!

After you use the exlax and get off the bowl... and maybe after a year from now when you save up enough money to get your B16, send me your d16a6 with 160k+ miles on it cuz I'll gladly take it off your hands...
