thats funny, because as i recall, it took many more than that the last time i did it on a chevy. probably because it was a giant Astro van and i didnt have a lift, but yea.

besides, its not exactly the greatest looking car in the world right now, its waaaaaaaaaaaaay too screwed up to ever be worth caring about what it LOOKS like. i just want it to run. which i plan on getting done.

lmao....while you're at it use an oxy acetylene torch to cut the hole, that should get the job done quick....


There's two straps holding the tank up, remove the lines, remove the bolts holding the straps and drop the tank...so much easier...

Except with 3rd gen F-body you have to drop the axle low enough to pull the tank down. I'm not a fan of cutting the floor and I'd never do it, but it's also not my car.

my manual says for my '92, (im still new at this but that would be a fourth gen if im not mistaken) i would still have to lower the axle. and i really dont have the patience or the ground clearance to do that. without it running i cant get it to my shop to use our lifts, and i dont even have a decent floor jack here, the best i can do is get the back end driver side a little more than a foot off the ground. so the complicated way is just not an option right now.

and like i said with a car as messed up as this one, i dont care what it LOOKS like, i want it to RUN lol

82-92 are third gen, just be careful not to cut fuel lines

If you are going to cut the hole, don't patch it up with caulk at least weld it back on. but it wouldn't be that hard to drop the gas tank if you have some 20 dollar ramps from wal-mart

Well, i already chopped it and now ive got the open flap exposing my tank. but there are no disconnects in sight... wtf?
i followed the lines several feet and there are none.
there is a place where someone cut them and then repaired all three with hoses and clamps, but no disconnects.

and its just like i said it would be, the fuel pump. i disconnected the rings and lifted the unit whatever little i could, and i can see pieces of plastic from the pump on the bottom of the tank. so its been pumping gas.... but just around in the tank. lol

so now ive gotta pick up a new pump. :/

does anyone happen to have a pic of what a complete fuel pump assembly for my '92 would look like? i just want to make sure mine have been tampered with.

I thought about the above, and regret dropping the tank on a 94 camaro. The above would have saved a lot of time Especially since exahaust was always in the way (no cat). I suppose another Plus would be not having that "extra part" with out a home now... J/k
