Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

I think you all underestimate the cornering capability of the VR4. Yes its a bit heavier than the vette but there is a reason for the extra mass. Its got AWD with center differential & electronic traction controll, AWS, 16" 4 piston brakes, active areo with an overall drag coefficient of .30, electronically controlled suspension, Limited slip rear differential, 245/40R18 Z rated tires, and don't forget that 12 second passes are not unheard of with just a $20 boost controller. Its up there with the vette.

Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

i still woulnt put it up to a an SS/ws6 or a vette though...I tried to look at what class they compete in in soloII, says they compete in F-stock. Rest of the cars we are talking about all compete in A-stock.

FormulaLt1, have you driven an ls1 SS/ws6? How would you compare them to a stock lt1 z28/formula/ta? obviously the ss/ws6 would have a better package stock(hence why they compete in A-stock instead of F-stock) but I also hear that there was a few tweaks to the suspension on the 98+ f-bodies... Not sure if thats true or not. Only 4th gen I have driven was a 00 SS T-top.

Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

Yes, I have driven plenty of LS1's and all(LT1/LS1) SS/WS6/firehawks have suspension modifications. The LT1 stock for stock besides feeling less powerful, seems to handle almost exactly the same as LS1 IMO.

Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

Heres a fact sheet motor trend published with its times for a lot of the mid 90's sports cars, as you may see the VR4 does a bit better than the vette in the slalom and skidpad backing up what I said.
http://www.team3s.com/~matthews/imag...mt_rtr_vr4.jpg
Motor trend said tested the 00' WS6 at .84g in the skid pad and 64.6 in the slalom.

Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

They both handle great but on average the C4 shows a higher lateral Acc. and skidpad numbers are usually pretty close but I would agree that they both handle better than 4th Gen F-body(which handle great for a muscle car but doesn't handle like a super car without modification).

Re: ws6 vs. ss vs. vette vs. cobra vs. gt vs. vr4

Agreed, I love the vette the F-body and the 3000GT... I just think the VR4 gets a bad rap for being so heavy. If I didn't have the money I'd probably be getting an LT1 F-body (probably 3rd gen because of the look) instead of a VR4 later this week.

You do know that the 3rd Gen's did not come with the LT1 right?. They had TBI & TPI's(just to name a few) but plenty of people have done custom LT1 installs.
