You shouldn't have to remove the tire hatch.

Can't you access the screws from the side that faded trim piece?

I think he is also painting the spare tire carrier, which is why he removed it.

If you are going to pull off the trim piece, let us know how it went and throw up some pics if you can of how it attaches. I had my rear tire carrier re-painted back in the fall at a local dealer and I asked them why the rear trim was faded/cracking the way it was. They told me it was a combination of the sun, acid rain (the Toronto air we breath) and high speed polishing which wore down the clear coat. They said they had many problems with vehicles they polished with the air buffer and it would eat the clear coat right off them. I also asked them about repainting them and they said they could not get paint to adhere well to them and usually ended up replacing the trim. I would be interested to know how it goes as I was thinking of repainting mine when the weather gets warmer, but I was thinking of doing it on the vehicle and masking everything.

yes i am painting the spare tirer carrier too. I have to wait till this weather gets warmer its 50 but just have a windchill making it really cold. I took the 2 screws out of the window it got looser but didnt come off could find anything else to unscrew

Painted it today came out okay, waiting for it to dry then putting on the clear coat. How long should i let the car sit in my garge?

Let everything dry for at least 24 hrs.

Just checked on it hope it comes out, the tire carrier looks good but the plastic doesnt look as good as the other side... maybe it will get smoother looking over night or maybe there is something to buy for that?

any idea of how to fix the cd player says ERR when i put in a cd,,, blew inside but worked then tried again and didnt work :|

You should do both sides so it is even.

Clean it with a cleaning CD.

the color of it, looks sticky and doesnt look smooth... i did even coats maybe once it dryes.. maybe tomarrow morning it will look different.. I put my clean cd in and it spins then ejects it and says ERR... it suppost to play music while it cleans

another thing is, i looked in my fuse box today.. there are to wires one is connected in with a fuse, the other is nt, its just laying in there is that normail, or should it b plugged into something .

ok i guess i will have to read the manual did u ever hear of this problem with the cd player i read that u could press the reset button but i dont think mine has it

So it sounds as though you got the trim off. Were there any tricks, special clips on the back, etc., that could help everyone else out?
