Re: Body work
yeah cadillakin`98, I am using that sander for everything. I have another friend that has the block sander, I will see if I can borrow it from him. No I am not taking it down to bare metal everywhere, just roughing it up and taking out the chips and dings
ANYWAY I thank you for all the pointers you are giving me, I hope to make this an awesome truck, with a little bit of everyone's help! Here is a link to the grille that I am going to get, BTW I am painting it Gloss black, with hood scoops. ![]() http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Grilles/Che...V1052995/66641 http://www.1aauto.com/1A/FrontLights...1590000/131049 http://www.1aauto.com/1A/FrontLights...P1630022/29349 Oh and i am also geting the lights!

Re: Body work
Cool deal, glad your not wasting your time getting it to bare metal! As far as "roughing it up", yes you want to do this but, you can sand panels w/no damage and/or repair w/1000 grit sand paper. And, remember that once you are done with bondo work, you should sand with blocks ONLY. This will prevent getting waves in the paint. It takes a trained eye to see the waves. Basically, if you look at the right angle down the side of the vehicle, if you look very closely, you will most likely find high and low spots. Hence the term wavey. And if you are painting this truck black......you will see it once painted. Black shows EVERYTHING. I'm willing to give you more advice, but I would prefer to do it via email instead. I feel I'm giving out too many "tricks of the trade". Gotta run for now. Sounds like your "gettin' 'r done"!!!

Well guys here is an update on my project so far. It's been a while so here are some pics.
![]() Here is the back of my truck, I took the bumper and everything off to get it ready for the new "rhino style" roll on bed liner! Everything is sanded and primed and pretty much ready to rock and roll! ![]() Here is the new roll in bed liner after two coats. I need to wash it off, see my foot prints! ![]() Well here is the front, everythings off of is and ready to go. I stuck one of the new mirrors on just to see how it would look. ![]() Here is the new rims I am putting on it. They are getting matched up with a set of BFGoodrich Allterrains.

Well here is another update, I have put it back together somewhat, I need to drive it tonight. I have the new tires and rims on it. I got the tires for a case of beer from a friend who put new 35's on his truck...these babies are so new they still had the blue on the outlined letters! Here she is!

Re: Body work
Looks real good! If I didn't know it was redone I'd think it was a different truck! One question though: How is that roll on bedliner? I was thinking of getting some of that for my bed, but wasn't sure if you have to strip the old paint out. Any brand recommendations? Thanks

Re: Body work
well, I didn't get this on thick enough in some spots and it has peeled when it with stuff. It's good, but you have to coat it thick!
If you have the $$$ get a Rhino.

Re: Body work
That's the thing, my local Rhino Linings store wants $396 to coat my bed. That doesn't even include the top rails. Rails are another $55. It's rediculous what they want. It's a short box stepside! I don't even use my bed that much, I just want it to look nice.
