I think most people who drive cars know less about traffic laws than those on bikes and motorcycles, and should give them a break instead of being assholes about nothing. I mean they're not the ones driving around several thousand pounds of metal mined and refined with a ton of resulting pollution, nor are they burning and wasting precious natural resources, and darkening our skies with thousands of tons of poisonous gasses. Re: Bicyclers
Well.......[deep breath]
last weekend was the annual 'round the mountain' cycle race. 1700 of the fuckers, all leaving the city, simoultaneously for a 100km+ ride along the public highway.Apart from a small stretch on the start/finish line, no other roads were closed.Bear in mind that most of the course is run along the regions State Highways. In many places around the mountain, there's only one way from A to B, and it's a Saturday afternoon.you've got cars towing boats, milk tankers, gramps out for his weekend drive, folks moving house with half their possesions piled on an open trailer that's far too big for their car, every man and his dog heading for the city and the beach, and every 500m, there's a bunch of these clowns taking up half the road.Worse yet, for ever one of the competitors, it seems there's a fat woman riding support in a SUV. It seems that her job is to sit on the center line behind them with her hazard lights going, thus insuring that NOBODY can get past.At every town there's a drink station. The sole intention of these is for the pedestrians to push their road cones as far into the lane as possible,so that you then have to steer around both bike and moron handing out cup.To add to your misery, the cyclists discard their litter over their shoulder ,pelting your car with styrofoam. Some are serious cyclists, willing to risk their lives by passing others with the worst possible timing.Others are in it for 'fun', dressed up in clown costumes and wandering all over the road, barely able to control their tandem/unicycle/penny farthing for all the garish tinsel and flags hanging off it.You get to town, theres an old coot at every intersection with a fluouuro vest on,preventing legitimate traffic from impeding the charade.Occasionally they make 'slow down' gestures, to which I respond with the bird.I'd love to stop and tell him he has no authority to marshall traffic, and I'm well within the speed limit, but I'm already late enough already. This whole fiasco takes best part of a day to unwind around the mountain. At the end of the day, the cyclists pack up their SUV's with a smug grin ,and head back where they came from. They spend damn all in the region, and we end up paying for the cleanup and marshalling of their tardfest. They ere the only group of road users who are not only permitted to race on public roads, but are actively encouraged to do so. Now if I were to propose a car race around exactly the same course, with 1700 vehicles all traveling at 45-50mph difference to the speed of other road users, and forcing them to take evasive actin because I want to pass an opponent, would it be allowed to happen? would it fuck. |

![]() I also can sympathise with bicyclers, though not when they're riding down Tamaki drive (The road that connects Auckland Business District with the Eastern Bays, VERY busy road at 5 PM) in peak-hour traffic, hogging the lane for cars when the council designated SPECIAL FUCKING CYCLING LANES FOR THEM ON THE FOOTPATH I've seen more than one cyclist get knocked off thier bike as a result of this and have absolutely no sympathy for them when it happens.

Re: Bicyclers
No sympathy for asshole bikers. I rode my bike into boston quite a few times for school this summer. I was always the dude giving way for traffic and whatnot, not being a prick. There's nothing worse than a biker with a chip on his shoulder riding thorugh metro boston. One of these spring days my door might "accidently" open into one of these pricks.

Re: Bicyclers
We have that happen all the time in the spring and summer around here. I don't have a horn and it took me a long time for some reason to think of reving at them...boy when they hear the BOV do they scatter. The worst though is on some really curvy (sp?) roads that have a speed limit of like 45 and they'll be right in the middle of my lane going like 4, this happens at night too. Those asses!!! Anyways what are these bike lanes everyones talking about??? Is it like another lane between the normal lanes and the shoulder??? We don't have these bike lanes around here.

Re: Bicyclers
Its good to see that everyone has homocidal thoughts about bikeriders.
I have been an avid road cyclist for going on 8 years (i'm 21). From the day I started riding my bike, motorists have been nothing but hostile towards me. At the age of 13 I was hit by a bottle thrown by a passenger in an oncoming car when I was riding on the far righthand side of the road. What did I do to deserve that? I also have a cyclecomputer on my bike and will ride in the middle a little more into the lane if I am going the speedlimit. No matter how fast you are going the motorists have to pass you. I was going 40 in a 30 last time I was out and had an angry motorist yell at me and zip around me at about 50mph. I agree that some cyclists are very inconsiderate but don't hate all of us for riding. If the country runs out of oil you also might have to use your bike as an alternative means of transport. |

Re: Bicyclers
Its bike season here too, only im a pedestrian. Those dimwits need to be taught a lesson, especially on how not to ride in the middle of the fucking road. Its ok if you are a motorist, and you follow the motorist rules, like stopping at a red light and stuff, or if you are a pedestrian, and you follow the pedestrian rules, but then some idiot tries to be both. Today, i got my brand new black sabbath shirt scratched by a bloody indian banglah worker who rode in the center of the road, and while the cars stopped, (red light) he continued riding, and he was trying to actually ride through the rush hour crowd of pedestrians crossing the road. he scraped me, and he just went on. (sorry for being racist, but this is one of the reasons i hate illegal indian migrants)

Re: Bicyclers
jsut go to pass and open your passenger door "by accident" and let it hit them that will teach them! btu they arnt really soppose to be biking on the sidewalk but they are sopose to be only on the far right and not side by side, same as motorcycles.
i am an avade bmx biker and i always move the farthest i can to the right when a vehicle come behind me and i wave them passed i also do the same when going down trails and sidewalks to people and also slow down comsiderably or even stop way off the side for people with there dogs so i dont freak out the dogs but i have seen meny other bikers go flyign pasted people, cutting off cars, and even riding side by side down trails when im going the other way (trail goes both ways) and dont move over or even make any atempt to move a bit over, but my reaction to them is a simple skid in front blocking both then passing both of them on wrong side of trail with a friendly finger and some choice words back and forht between everyone. but i only do this in extreme conditions because of not wanting to go buying tires every month (there are alot of people that do that where i live) also when i had front brakes on my bike i always did a stoppie instead of a skid infront of prople jsut for the shock of it of somone coming at you in the opposite direction on there front wheel. best stoppies i ever did was on a 14" bike with bmx seat post extended and moved back and bmx handle bars on extended and moved forward neck (my friend had the same with ape hanger bars same style seat post and some white walls! by no means was he small either, 5'10" 180-190 lbs.it was like a clown riding a minibike, also we bith had bmx pegs on the bikes and i mostly ran my biek with only the rears(for better tricks at the skatepark) the reason we did these bikes was for the local concrete skatepark that was a small one so a full size bmx couldnt really get up to speed easyly and i love the look on the skaters faces when we rode p on mini bmxs (his was show mine was all go!) i have also had problems with people rolling through stop signs i acually went to go infront of a dodge ram with somthing constuction on door when he had about ten feet to stop, he was going really slow too, but he decided i would stop for him so he decides to keep rolling through the cross walk, so right before he gets there i go to go across and he keeps going, he didnt even see me because he was reading and talking on his cell phone so i stop right infront of him he keeps rolling forward so i hit my fist a few times on his hood, finally he sees me and stops fully completely through the cross walk, then i went flying off doing a wheelie (like i normally do when i go to start off at a high speed) then look back the f***er has the certacy to flip me the bird and peels out then having to slam his brakes on so he doesnt hit the person driving past, then i see the kicker, on the tailgate it says how is my driving call: ***-****!!! if i had my cell on me i would have called it too! well thats my incounters with drivers and other bikers. i have also been hit my a driver in his truck while crossing the street on a side street when the guy comes flying around the corner (this is after about 50 meters before the turn a school zone starts!) he hit me square in the hip i was barily able to stay on the bike then he decides to stop and tell be to have to pay for the damage to his truck (a small scratch on his chrome bumper, only had to be buffed out) ends up the guy lives 3 houses down and across the street from me in our complex! also when i bike around our mainstreet in town there is no bike lane, no shoulder (all is parking) and lots of traffic (main road through middle of town) so i have to ride on the sidewalk but i go extremely slow with moderate walking traffic bt with high walking traffic i just use the side streets. also i use to ride at 30km/h when goign to turn onto the street to m house (school zone so i was going the limit then if somone wanted to go faster i would just move far the right let them pass then move back into an invisible bike lane (between parked cars and traffic) and i also used all the proper hand signals btu most drivers dont know them so when i slow down to turn they slam there brakes on and swerve to the right (even though i signal way before i even start slowing down to turn) isnt the hand signals in the driving manual and on the driving test? woh! that was a long post! bwaaaaaahahahahahahaha, loved the friend's mom part, that's halarious, oh man, top shit. Oh a serious note, we have the problem here too. All the "pro bikers" get out, they ride in packs of between 2, and 15, and it's annoying, they take up ENTIRE lanes, and we DON'T have designated bike lanes most of the time (well, where they decide to ride anyway). I'll give them this though; they don't ride in peak hour, and they tend to avoid one-laned streets. I ride BMX, and street and park, I avoid roads, but I stick as far left as I possibly can when I do ride on the road. |

Re: Bicyclers
sometimes the bike lanes and sides of the road are covered in gravel which cannot be safely navigated on a road bike.
