I think I could think of a better way to spend $55,000 on a civic, that think looks kinda ugly from the 2 pics I saw. I guess I'm just a fan of the original civic design and don't see the need to go all out modifying it

Yeah $55,000 is a lot of cash, but i hear it runs 11's, and its completely streetable... I wouldn't spend the money, but I'd love to have that car (or possibly the money instead).

Yeh i mean i wasnt tryin to dis his ride or him for that matter ...i just think 55,000 is alot of money thats been put to waste? Shit i hardly believe he runds 11's with all that stuff on it. Theres a guy that has a black gsr turbo powered rex that runs 11's with 10 g's on the motor. I would use that 55 g's on something useful.

you can accomplish that with a lot less than 55k.

of course it helps to work at a shop, and get parts at cost.

free installation rules

dont get a dc "short" shifter. the only short-shifter on the market that is worth buying is the one made by neuspeed. Neuspeed invented the shortshifter which was designed to shorten the throw. all others, and i mean all others, only shorten the height of the stick and might make it a little smoother. Neuspeeds' wont hit any exhaust sheilds under your car and it shortens the throw by, I think 40%, check their site. Sure it costs a lot more than the others but you get what you pay for.

My biggest problem wasn't the gearbox, but getting all the bolts/nuts off, they were rusted on pretty solid. I used lots of liquid wrench and my propane torch came in handy. Careful not to break any bolts down there, they are a bitch to replace. Also, I bought a Skunk2 short shifter. Great quality, great lengh, and nice and heavy so its hard to miss shift. They cost a bit more than DC's, but I've never seen a good review of a DC anyway. Also make sure to get new urathane bushings, they make the shifter so nice and crisp feeling.

that's incorrect. all the short shifters on the market for 6th gen civics and 3rd gen tegs are true short shifters that change the position of the pivot ball to reduce the shifting throw.

neuspeed didn't create shit... B&M did it long before Neuspeed was even a company of it's own.

Sorry, I mean short-throw shifter. Neuspeed made this, the others such as B&M are plain short-shifters. They do reduce throw but not as much.

Lol, this guy is out of his mind. Neuspeed invented them? How about B&M have been doing them for 33 yearz and they invented them. As for quality, compare a b&M to a neuspeed. You will see what 33 yearz of producing and developement does, I have a delsol sol and if u have ever driven one u would know that the shifter is MUCH shorter then a civic due to the way the shift linkage is placed, and still my buddy's b&m reduces his by about 1/2, its rediculous how short it is.

Neuspeed claims;
Quote:
NEUSPEED was the first to pioneer and develop the concept of a true shorter throw shift lever. All NEUSPEED shifter parts are solid, beefy units that can take all the fast shifts you can throw at them. You get faster, easier and more precise shifting with a NEUSPEED Short Shifter!

Toyota also claims to be the first with Variable cam timing, but we all know BMW beat them out the door with VANOS, and Nissan had variable intake cam timing since 1990.

everyone "claims", but there's no proof. the only thing neuspeed can claim is the first short shifter for a VW.
