SVT funny noise in front wheel

Mine started to do the same thing tonight for no apparent reason. It's a '00 model that I've had for almost 2 years, it has about 65000 miles I think. I backed out of the driveway tonight and the steering started to make a loud thud sound, yesterday I drove the car and there wasn't a problem.

If the problem is a CV Joint or brakes, how soon should I get to the shop if the noise doesn't go away?

have them check the motor and replace the electric motor in the front of the engine bay(it will be silver the about the size of a small matchbox) right above the horns. I have replaced this on two SVTs in the shop and I believe(not sure) there is a TSB out for this problem on the SVTFs, but am 99.9% sure this is your problem. What you might even want to do is pull it off, only attatched by a few bolts, unplug it (See if the noise goes away when unpluged) and order a new one from ford and save yourself a few bucks.

p.s. this is a fairly expensive part expect to spent $200-300 on just the part, and if you want to know the motor controls the intake manifold at high rpms

I found out why my car was making noises; the spring above each front tire were both broken and would scratch against the car everytime I tried to turn. I had to replace those, the struts and the tires because they were all almost bald (I could see some of the metal inside the rubber on one of them)

The good news is that my car runs better now than it did even before I heard the noise The bad news is that my credit card balance is much higher than I ever intended it to be!
