Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

Lol no problem Meti. Glad I could help.

That's awesome you got a turbo fiat. I bet that is fast. Yeh I know where Kosovo is - what brought you over here?

I go to st. johns high school

I don't understand the intake thing your talking about with the "bold" thing in it. Are you talking about your intake resonator? (it's the tube that goes down behind your battery)

Those 'air lines' you were talking about kind of sound like the setup I've got. I have a short-ram warm air intake setup, but I've got lines running from the wheel well and from the front fascia edge up to the cone filter - thus it's kind of a warm air / cold air hybrid as I like to call it. I'll send you pics sometime if I get the chance.

That "block thing" you're talking about ontop of the engine is the Upper Intake Manifold. Sometimes you'll here it called the UIM. The air that goes through your throttle body goes into that and then into the cylinders. Yeah, making the holes bigger will help with air flow, but if you do that, you must also "port-match" the lower intake manifold so that they line up. That will hardly do anything, unless you get a larger throttle body. So if you want to increase the air flow of the UIM, my advice is to get a 62 mm throttle body, and then port match the opening of your UIM to it, so that they line up smooth with no turbulence.

wait, I'm confused. Why are you taking off your MAF? What are you going to do with it? Tell me before you do anything to it, because guys have done stuff like porting the MAF, and now they run really lean and have ruined their engine. If you take out the MAF, the one thing I suggest is removing your MAF screen. It's a metal honey-comb-like screen that sets in your MAF. Stick a screwdriver or something into it and pry it out, and it'll help a lot with air flow. I noticed gains from it.

Yeh my cars silver. And I raced like 4 months ago on I27!! But it was against a CRX LoL Where you by any chance driving a CRX at the time?

Sorry, but there's no way to "remove the govenor" on our car. The only way to remove the speed limiter is to get a reprogrammed PCM, which is what you originally asked about... (the DHP one and stuff) - and no, mods will not "bypass" it, they will just help you get up and reach it faster

No, I don't have a body kit on mine. I've done minor appearance stuff, like decals / vinyls / other crap, but nothing major like a body kit. Lol you've talked about that body kit lots - it must be pretty cool. Send me some pics.

Well that's good tax returns are coming to ya - good luck with that ignition stuff.

^ ^ Yeh, I've seen all of those. The best I've heard of though (for the 3.4, assuming that's what you have) is made by Fast Forward Performance.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about it, and everything I've read has rated it higher then those others. If you don't believe me, go on www.grandamgt.com and run a search on it - people love it. I would highly reccomend it.

Dude Meti - that kit with that bumper is gonna look badass! That's gonna kick ass when you're done.

lol well I kind of did, I had pulled ahead, then a semi blocked me off, and he got off an exit before I got around the semi (the semi was in the left lane for some odd reason)

I'll add you on MSN messenger. If you wanna add me I'm [email protected]

Yeh. Just stick a scredriver or awl into that honey-comb-like screen and pry it out, it'll come cleanly out.

And it has kinda a pretty big hole in the screen lol so not useable no more.

Now I'll get those spark plugs and wires and even may be a throttle body!!!

Ok for the underdrive pulley you posted this link: http://ww4.aitsafe.com/cf/add.cfm

it says that its for 3400SFI so thats our engines.
Do you say I get the pulley before the throttle body? Well I'll let you answer that and I'll work on getting whatever you tell me

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

Hey I forgot to ask you this...

There is this ticking noise as like when you give signal to turn. Its very much random. Mostly when the car is warming up but it does it so random. It from the hazard light switch above the stereo by the Track control button.
Its so annoying and i called the pontiac service and they said that it will cost aroun 70$ to inspect and find the problem.

I just was wondering if you or anyone had this problem and found the cure
i get headache alot but i turn the music all away up to not hear it. it ticks and ticks...stupid hazard light switch!!!!

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

I dunno where that first link its from Meti, but I did post that second link. Yes, it's for the 3400 SFI, that's the one we need.

As far as which one to get first, I guess in your case, I would get the pulley first - but keep in mind you will need certain special tools and stuff to change it. Check out this link, it's a how-to for installing the pulley:

http://68.35.89.220/pulley.htm

To answer your question about the ticking - it's known as the "multi-function switch". DO NOT pay the dealer to inspect it and stuff. It is a RECALL issue - it has been recalled, so you should be able to get it done for free. It should cost nothing.

lol I guess "turning the radio up all the way" will have to do until you get it fixed - but it is a recall issue, so don't let any dealer charge you money to get it fixed.

That's good that you're getting the plugs / wires. I'll give you the part number for the NGK plugs - I've got it around here somewhere.

Congratulations on removing your MAF screen - You'll notice the difference tommorow driving - at least I did. And yeh, you're right, my screen had a hole in it too, I just ended up throwing it away - it's not like you're ever going to need to put it back in.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

o ok nice thanks.
I am writting down all the things and made a list and how much it will cost me to get a thing.

Hey how fast does your car go? 0-60??? approximate?
and do you have the windows tinted...blend in silver style???

Mine is black and black tinted windows. I got 18's Rozzi rims that i put on at summer. (lose alot of horsepower there since they are heavier than stock rims )If i dont get the money to get body kit I want. I will just get some clamps and lower the car down!

I think when removed that MAF screen...i got some horse power there.
I'll call up that service again and ask them for the recall. thanks for that dude...

I'd say my 0-60 is probably like around 7.5 seconds

I don't have the windows tinted... not sure if I ever will.

Yeh I can believe those rims will slow you down. They say every 1 pound of rotational mass is equal to 10 pounds of normal weight on your car, so if you figuire you gained 3 pounds on each wheel, that's equivilant to having 120 extra pounds of weight in your car. I bet those 18's look nice though. Lol if you want to lower your car, I'd reccomend some Eibach springs - 200$ish

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

you are way better than 7.5 secs Ridenour. I bealive you are at around 6 seconds per 0-60 depending on weather and driving(start). 1 second is a long long time lol especially when you race.

ok mcbeefer....let me know and i'll get the same thing if its good.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

LoL well thanks Meti - I dunno about 6 seconds, but I guess my estimate was probably too conservative - I'd say I'm probably around 6.5 ish, but deffinately no lower then 6.
