Re: valve cover vent tube Blowing?!? and a code 20

what do you mean you just rebuilt it. like under 500 miles ? no oil is suppose to be coming out of that, so if you got oil coming out and going into your intake then you got some blowby going on.

who rebuilt your motor ? also do a compression test and post results

it always blows air, especially with our old motors. its called blowby. the cylinder rings let the combustion gas past the ring
Quote:
you got some major blowby. r u running a turbo or nos or anything like that ? is yoru motor smoking at all ?

You're kidding right?

Quote:
your kidding. i just rebuilt my whole motor. new rings, pistons, and bearings. i have not ran nitrous or turbo.
Dude, don't listen to these guys. That oil is not blowby (unless of course it is just dripping from that outlet or white-blue smoke is coming out of it. It is normal for a small amount of oil to spray out. It is coming out when there is vacuum in the intake tube when accelerating and it "sucks" small amounts of oil from the valve cover to the intake. That tube has a purpose and that is why honda put it there connected to the stock intake. It actually serves no benefit to remove that tube and put a little filter there as I've seen many people do. It just filters the oily air coming out....?.....lol.
If there is a large amount of oil coming out, it is not necessarilly blow by but could be a bad pcv valve.

Re: valve cover vent tube Blowing?!? and a code 20

it all depends on how much oil he has in his intake.

so your suppose to have oil going into you intake. how come i dont have 1 drop of oil going into my intake ? on intake side of that hose, there is no oil at all. and i go WOT all hte time in my civic.

he made it sound like there was alot of oil coming out. that is not normal.

like i said, do a compression test.

Yea I'm glad you replied, 'cause I asked someone else today and they said the same thing. There is no oil actually in my intake, just a little getting in the hose going to it. I still will do a compression test just 'cause I want to know. I got my new intake manifold and mugen short ram today so I'll get some pics up later.

you see, you described the problem wrong, you said oil is blowing into your intake. now you say, its only alittle and its not going into you intake.

if you had said hte second sentence then that would be ok. you say the first sentence, thats blowby. its all in how you decribe the problem. for future refence, plz describe the problem better so we can help you better. a compression test would reveal whether its blow by or not, usually

based on that statement bambam, hes describing blowby. no oil should make it to your intake, especially on a freshing rebuilt motor. so if he had oil blowing in the intake, thats alot more then he should have, ie blowby.

but now that he described it better. that is normal

let us know how the comp test turns out
