I think I'd have to find a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale just like my Dad had when we were growing up. I'd get the same colour too - light brown with the dark drown vinyl top. I'd also slap an 850cfm 4-barrel on that 305cid to get the kids fired up once in a while...

Barring that, a truck/suv does well. As the kids grow you'll need alot of room for stuff.

Assuming I could pull of the financing, I'd go with a Lincoln Town Car...I love those things for some strange reason. Once I hit my midlife crisis and depending on how fat I was, I'd go with either a Vette, Lotus Elise or Supra.

Well let's see I AM married, have 2 kids, in my mid (well mid to late) 30's, and we have average income. We own a '97 Chevy Venture as the main family hauler, I had another '97 but had to take it off the road because of engine problems, will be selling that this Spring, (know anybody that wants to buy a fixer-upper Venture?) Our backup vehicle is a '90 Lesabre my mother bought new , now is too old to drive, so we use it (only 42000 miles on it.) I also drive a '94 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup, I bought new ( as a bachelor) I use it around the yard and to haul things from Spring to Fall, (take it off the road for Winter.) My project restoration is a '64 Bel Air I bought in 1992. Restoration is a little slow now with a family in the picture, But I WILL complete it one of these days. I also own a 1973 Ford Torino I bought to restore, but am planning to sell it in the Spring to concentrate on the Bel Air, and to continue to renovate my house.

I wholeheartedly agree! I love those Roadmasters and Chevy Caprices from the early '90s. My friend has a '92 Caprice and I like it's roominess and comfort. Plus add to that it's got a V8 and RWD. I've always been a sucker for big GM RWD w/V8's. Those cars were like the last of the great big ones! I'd love to get one for a family vehicle, but I don't think my wife would approve- she likes the "newer" vehicles, like the new Chevy Uplander. Oh well, maybe someday, at least I can check them out at eBay Motors.

Everyone wants a Roadmaster. I think my grandfather spent 2 weeks looking for one at yard sales (that translate into 2 days since he yard sales only on friday) and found a rather nice one for a really good price.
