Re: wow, too fast

SL65 AMG owns any BMW ever.

BTW what's up with the non racing threads in Street Racing? isn't there a car sightings section somewhere?

Does the McLaren F1 count? It has a BMW engine
But I agree with you...no M car can run in the 11s bone stock like the SL65 AMG can.

Re: wow, too fast

Thats because no ///M has a twin turbo V12. If you twin turbo a BMW V12, it'll rape the AMGs, flat out. And I'll put money on Dados ///M 3 will rape any AMG, flat out.

indeed cassiesman, was going to point that out also.
It's pretty obvious and normal that that couldn't happen and it's a bit stupid to compare them in the first place.
Plus, look at topgear, the mercedes still doesn't have the service you would need with cars like that.

lol, i just read yr first reply in here cassiesman and i want too furfill it with what my buddies called my benz back in the days. They called it the "TANK" who was made out of "Sollid rocks" to look like a "Brick".
And really, thats how they look, and handled! And I know it's a big difference between the two last generations, but still....

And before you guys start to talk about us being bimmer guys and all.
It has nothing to do with that, it's just my opinion when i compare them to eachother (the 2 brands, not the cars they spoke about earlier).

and too the man of cassie. It's actually a little odd but i noticed our mind often thinks the same way with these sort of things. I wonder it's due to the fact we ride with a car wich has the same whiteblue emblem.

I think a lot of people pick races with them because of their size, but they'll typically outrun anything on the street. BTW this thread didn't start as a comparison thread.

I'm guilty of starting the sightings thing, it was a joke lol, I didn't think anyone else would chime in. This thread never had a clear puropse.

Re: wow, too fast

Ahhh but cassiesman, you are commiting the cardinal sin of "but if I spent 'x' amount of dollars on this car, it could beat that car"....I have no doubt in my mind that dado's 540hp turbo M3 could beat the SL65...but hey, take the SL65 to a kleeman or brabus tuning firm, and we are right back where we started. I was talking stock for stock here.

Re: wow, too fast

And I'm talking stock for stock, BMW didn't need to use a super charger on a V8 or a TT on a V12 to get its numbers.

BMW doesn't need it. I could go one and make a full post showing why BMW has won the HP was over MB, but I'm not gonna.

Re: wow, too fast

So what? BMW doesn't use FI, MB does...doesn't mean MB is any "lesser" of a manufacturer than BMW...personally I'd rather have the E55 than the M5(yes, the 2006 one) because the 5 series is butt ugly, thanks to Chris Bangle.

Re: wow, too fast

The new BMWs look fine, and they look better than any MB has ever looked. I'm not saying tis a better car becuase they dont use FI, I'm saying they have better engineers than MB becuase MB needs FI to get numbers that are marginally better than the BMW numbers at best.

I prefer AMG>///M. I just like the styling of benz cars. Bimmers don't lack there, and to most look better, but I like the benz cars. As far as the numbers go, who cares? this tread has no point, and we will never own any of those cars

Welcome to the first thread jacking of 2005. I'm not partial to BMW or Mercedes. But from a technical point of view; I'm sure they can pull close to the same numbers of BMW out of a Mercedes if they decided to put in high comp pistons and aggressive cams. Its not a question of who engineered their cars better, because it would be ignorant to call any of their engineers stupid. Because for sure they are not. It was just a question of whether or not the engineers wanted to use low comp and boost, or high comp and flow. Its not that MB NEEDS forced induction to make power, because they could've easily gone the n/a route th at same power themselves. It was simply a choice by their engineers. And this is not to take away from BMW at all, because they could've just as easily gone the FI route themselves. It was all just simple choices.
