Why create a site for saying what model kits you want? I bet this one gets veiwed fairly often. Just because they don't say anything doesn't mean they aren't watching....

So if I could have any model kit made.....I want the 2002 Commemorative Edition Trans Am. What do they have to do for that...make bigger wheels?

Revell WAS going to do one a couple years ago, but, of course, they canceled it

Re: The "I want this kit" site.

There's been a site like that for a few years in Japan, and it's called www.tanomi.com. [tanomikomu roughly means "to beg," so it's a pun] Basically, you post your idea on the net, and wait for the other people to support your idea. If a certain number of interests are met, the site talks to the possible service provider or product manufacturer to meet the customer's demand. They also take care of the licensing issue, if necessary.

Studio 27's 1/24 scale Mazda MPV mini-van and Subaru SVX kits were created that way.

The idea I like is the voice activated car navigation system that answers back with Knight Rider's KITT's voices. It hasn't been made into reality, and I don't think I'd buy it, but that'd be funny.

They made a 1998 TA, in fact there are two on eBay right now. I am sorely tempted. I recently added a bunch of Camaros to the ranks of the yet-to-be-built, and I'd love some more Firebirds, esp. the sexy 98-02s. *sigh* someday!

For years, Revell, Lindberg, Monogram, and AMT/Ertl listened very intently to the "Most Requested All New Kit" and "Most Requested Reissue" votes in Scale Auto Enthusiast's annual Kit of the Year poll. Thanks to the votes, kits of the 1957 Chrysler 300C, 1958 Edsel Pacer, 1966 Pontiac GTO, and 1962 Pontiac 421SD Catalina all were released.

Also, thanks to Kit of the Year voting, the kit manufacturers were able to get overwhelming feedback on what kits the buying public truly liked. Some former SAE Kit of the Year winners have gone on to truly spectacular runs (the Revell Deuce, the new for 1998 AMT/Ertl 57 Chevy, the Lindberg 53 Ford Victoria) and the voting has always shaped future releases.

We can't just tell the companies what we want, we also have to tell them how we want it and what they're already doing right. If we do so, we'll be guaranteed the releases we want as we want them. So, perhaps, an AF Kit of the Year and Most Requested New Subject poll might be a good idea?

Didn't Tamiya make a normal E36 Coupe? I think I saw one on eBay some weeks ago. I'm not sure it was from Tamiya... could have been the Hasegawa one... But I think I saw a listing once where an E36 was listed as being made by Tamiya... Anyone has this kit?

Re: The "I want this kit" site.

Really uncertain about this, but I think Dragon had an E36, and it was a curbside.

I'm pretty sure Revell of Germany had a 4-door 3-series from that generation, and iIrc, it had an engine...

I believe you are correct. I don't expect anything new from Tamiya ever again so I won't be dissapointed in anything they do. I hope they read this (I'll bet they see it somehow) Vric knows how I feel about Tamiya as far as new kits go.

Given the amount of nostalgia that drives this hobby, you'd think the manufacturers would come out with popular sportscars from the 60's in 1/24 like the TR4, MGB, Fiat Spider, etc. How many of us in our 50's and 60's wouldn't want a reminder of our misspent youth?

Anyway, somebody make a MGA and Mercedes W196 Streamliner in 1/24 and I'll buy 'em in an instant.

Actually, Gerard, Aoshima released two MGB kits in the early 90's. One rubber bumper, one chrome. Both have Rostyle four lug wheels and knock-off wire wheels.
