Re: Progress: Skoda Fabia WRC from REJI
Work on interior is on the way, CF (SMS) is where it should be, I have put scaleracecars switches on the dash board and Kevlar on the seats, also SMS, followed by clear black because the Kevlar looked a bit to yellow. Still a lot of work.

very neat interior! Sad thing about inertiors is that most of it won´t be seen, when the car is finished. Be sure to make more detail pics for.

Body is painted in white. So three light coats of Tamiya white primer, little bit of sanding, two light coats of Dupli color white then 48 hours of drieing (this white realy dries for long time it is fresh even affter 24 hours
), then one more light coat and finnaly one wet coat. It is still not perfect but now I have to put red, green and grey, then clearcoat and than some rubbing and if nececary sanding. Doesn't look that bad at all, slight orange peal but that is because there isn't to much paint (I had problem with this paint on chasis when I applied it to heavily). |

wow, it's coming along real nicely.
What about the suspension setup and engine, are you going to scratchbuild all of them? That would be so awesome

And now for some bad news, I fu..ked the paint job. Mistake was in paint. All of the products are from Dupli color (exept Tamiya primer). White and red are synthetic base and green is acrylic. Don't do this because you will be sorry like I am. Body was left in Mr. Muscolo (Johnnsons) owen cleaner and it stripped paint really good and I will have to start over with acrylic ONLY. ![]() ![]() Did some more on the interior. I have added few of Scaleracecars bolt and washers (lost only one ) driled pedals, gear shift lever and hand brake housing. Still need to make brake cylinder for hand brake and add a lot of wires.![]() ![]() And just to say once more DON'T PUT ACRYLIC DUPLI COLOR OVER SYNTHETIC DUPLI COLOR. |

Very sorry to hear and see your misfortune Sasa. The body was looking very nice.
I'm sure it will be even better second time round. |

Re: Progress: Skoda Fabia WRC from REJI
Sorry to hear about the paintjob. (The only thing i really hate about modelling... Painting the body)
But your interior still really looks good! I guess your second paint job will be better

Re: Re: Progress: Skoda Fabia WRC from REJI
Ahhh, I also had the same problem with the paint. I applied Tamiya primer then put some Dupli Color over it and when i clear coated it a bunch of marks came out of no where! I'm never mixing brands again, worse thing was that i did it with two cars at the same time and had to strip both! I did get to recover them and they are actually the two cars that are in my signature
Well you always learn something new!The Fabia is awesome man! My cousin owns one of these cool chipmunks in my country. Very cool car. Defenitely interested in this thread. |

Re: Progress: Skoda Fabia WRC from REJI
I also ruined my first ever model using tamiya spray can over Revell enamel paint. Hard lesson, but you'll never do it wrong again :-)

I hate to think its to late to tell you this but... if the red and white are lacquer paints and the green was acryllic then you should just be able to strip the green with rubbing alcohol and not effect the lacquer?!?
