carrrnut, immature seems to be written all over your mouth. If you really knew a lot about Honda, then you'd know that when you drop cams on a B16A, and you don't have an ECU, it cuts your rev limiter from 8000 to 7000, so after you get cams, you drop down below the sweet spot when you shift gears. Oh and if you knew about Toyota, you'd know that the 2000-2001 Celica GTS's don't have a premature rev limiter like the 2002's. The 00-01's run up to 8000, leaving you in the "sweet spot", if that's what YOU call it, everytime you shift after first gear... But the 2002's have a 7700 rpm limiter, which cuts off your acceleration time. And the GTS that Motor Trend... Guess what? It had a premature rev limiter. Sports Compact Car compared the Celica GTS to the RSX Type S, well it didn't compare them, but it had those two and six other cars reviewed. The Celica GTS ran 8.1 0-60 and the 1/4 in 15.7, and it had a glitchy ecu that cut it off at 7500 RPM. If you want to say I let him cut in front of me, say it... Say it like you were actually there, but we'll all know that you WEREN'T there, you DONT know what happened, and you have NO IDEA what you're talking about. Oh yeah and my friends' Si has 23,000 miles on it, it's a 2000, and he hasn't had his valves readjusted ever, and he raced that car since the day he got it. He lost to the same GTS but by a little more than I did, are you going to tell me that he gave up to? Oh yeah and I raced the GTS for 20 dollars, and if you think I'm dumb enough to lose 20 dollars on purpose just to support a manufacturer that I was forced into business with, then you really do have immature written all over your mouth, and other parts of you for all it matters.

And why is it that toyota put that rev-limiter there. Possibly because toyota wanted a high revving engine like the honda's, but did a shitty job of doing it. So you get all these people revving the piss out of their little engines that could and blowing them. That is why my friend's maching shop was seeing at least 1 of those heads inthere every month for new valves and surfacing etc. from the dealer. Maybe it's not such a good thing to have an engine that needs a beating to be halfway fast, but isn't designed well enough to take the beating??

Read this: April 2000 issue of Sport Compact Car, page 136. 2001 Celica GT-S, redline, 7800RPMs. FYI, when they say redline, the magazine is referring to the fuel cut-off. Just like when they talk about the S2000's "high 9000RPM redline". We all know the S2000 cuts-off at 9000RPMs stock. I don't know where you get your info from, but I've driven my friend's 2000 GT-S, and 7700 to 7800RPM is EXACTLY where the fuel cuts-off. Besides, it's NOT about how high a car can redline. It's about the gearing. After you reach the car's 7600RPM power peak and pass it, shifting brings you down past the "VTEC" or in this case the "VVT-i" point because of the gearing. Also, I've never installed cams personally on my own cars, but I have friends that have, and I've never heard of having to get the ECU to get the old redline back. An ECU to optimize everything and INCREASE the STOCK redline, but not because the redline fell. All of you who have installed cams, any of you experience this? I might just be talking out of my ass, and this actually occurs, if so clarify this and I'll apologize profusely, but otherwise, I'll talk only about what I know and have seen.

the gts has approx 195 at the flywheel stock, and you have 160+35shot+other mods you have. If his car is stock and you are =drivers, then you should win

honda junkie, horsepower isn't everything. A GSR has 170 hp to the flywheel, and a 5.0 Mustang has 215 hp and 290 lbs. ft. torque, and yet the GSR takes the 5.0.
The Celica GTS has beautiful gearing and a 6 speed transmission, along with excellent suspension, you have to look at the times... A DOHC Vtec SiR get's the quarter in 15.7, and the GTS gets it in 14.8, now a 35 shot of nitrous isn't going to drop your times by .9 second. Maybe if you got a port and polish + valve job and a cam kit, you'll take him out without nos.
