Re: Integ Ls vs. Ford Focus, who wins?
Your car is faster than his. But if he's a better driver than you, he definitely has an advantage.

been there, done that
I had an unmodified 89 4door automatic. I raced a guy who had a 2002 zx3 with a custom exhaust, manual. I never even floored it and stayed nose to nose. He was a good buddy of mine and his car was new, so I didn't want to make him feel bad. We called it a tie. Unless this guy's mods are extensive, you should be fine. But you, the longer the track the better shape you're in.

Re: Integ Ls vs. Ford Focus, who wins?
I have a friend with a 1993 Nissan 240sx. He raced a fellow that owned a 2003 ford focus zx3 that had put about $2,500 into the car, between mods and exterior modifications. My friend's 240 was recently rebuilt, but it was the stock motor. The gentleman in the focus had a complete exhaust system, headers, pipes, and no cat. He also had intake, and just some upgraded ignition parts. Then the rest of the money went to the body kit, and gauges in the car (it was a bit.... over the top for me) Anyway, the conclusion of the race is that my friend's 240 (he had been driving the car for about 4 months at this time, first car he's ever driven too) completely and utterly destroyed the focus, and both cars were manuals. End of the race, bout 75 to 80 mph, he was a solid 5 cars on him. They tried again on the highway, 60mph roll, and the 240 beat him even worse. I can beat my friend in his 240 with me in my GSR. I have completely lost all respect that I have ever had for focus's and their Ztech. It was incredibly slow for what he had done to the car. I hold my belief that focus's are lemons, you can't do crap to make them fast, or at least it takes way too much money to make it practical to do so. I would not be suprised if you beat this guy with the focus.

i think we're gonna race down this long empty road. Longer then 1/4 mile, so i think i got the advantage there. Also i dont think the winner of the race would be dependent on who ever is the better driver. Pushing the gas all the way doesnt require any skill, its just the matter of the car. But thanks for all your input, make me feel more confident, lol.
P.S.- looking for coilovers, any good websites where i can find them cheap?? |
