Talking I am lost. please help.

Does removing the radio entail a lot of work.
especially for someone who knows nothing about cars.
Should I bring it somewhere and have them get the serial number and other info for me?

faster radio codes

I work in a honda parts department, and i just have to say, that if you go through the trouble of pulling out your radio to get the serial #, why wait 24 hours for turbcivic to get you a radio code that can be uptained for free within minutes through your local honda/acura dealer. Just give them the serial number (Located on the underside of the radio) and they will get you the 5 digit radio code. Its just that simple.

removing the radio

To remove your radio, all you have to do is take a flathead screw driver(preferably rapped in a thin rag to prevent scratching) and pry off the garnish that surrounds the radio (and sometimes heater control). There will be anywhere between 6 and 8 clips that hold on this garnish, don't be afraid to pry, the clips are designed to withstand multiple removals, and if they do break, they are very inexpensive (but possibly hard to locate depending on model and year). When the garnish is removed, the screws will be visible(4 in all, one in each corner, sometimes 6) Once those are removed, you will be able to pull the radio out enough to flip it over and get the serial #. This number should consist of about 10 characters (Mix of #'s and letters). It's just that simple. There should be no reason that the process of removing the radio, getting the radio code, and getting your radio up and running should take more than 10 minutes. So once again, once you've obtained your serial # CALL YOUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP!!! Trust me.

Re: Acura and radio codes(here)

You should be ashamed turbcivic, You are just throwing money away. I am a certified Acura technician, but i don't go around just giving away radio codes and what not. Customers have to pay for that service when they come into the shop, and you are just giving it away. Don't get me wrong, i will help a guy out if they ask me personally. But i don't go brodcasting free information. I hope no one in honda or acura hears about this or else it could be big trouble. Say bye bye to job. I am not trying to be a dick in any way shape or form, i am just looking out for all technicians, (we already have a bad name as it is, and you are making it harder for us to get work), and you, you could lose your job over this. I personally think this thread should get shut down. I know there is going to be a lot of those who disagree (mostly those who need a code), but if you were in my shoes as a technician for honda motor company, you would understand.
