Because the 1.3 is a rotary engine wich works a different way. You might be right about parts. No it will be a different engine than the one from the RX7 same Hp but it will be NA.

Evo 7 all the way. You know how fast turbo eclipses are (high 11's with stock internals), the Evo's gonna be much better than that. With the its AWD system, good luck on beating it on the street. With the same basic 4G63T engine as the Eclipse, the aftermarket is here before the car is. And for those worried about the top-end, stock gearing it will probably redline out at 135-145mph: T.R.E. = Team Rip Engineering. They build beefed up trannys for Eclipses (Taller 1st and 2nd gears, double synchroed gears, reinforced with stronger parts throughout) and they offer a 25% taller 5th gear. That would push max speed to around 175mph if you had enough boost, not very hard for a 4G63T.

Evo 7 all the way, But some of your figures on the Evo VII's speed are exaggerted. The Euro Spec Evo VII doesnt even hit 0-60 in 4.3 seconds so how can a tuned-down American Spec Evo VII do it? On all the web pages I have seen the Euro Evo VII hit 0-60 in 4.7-5.3 seconds so take a few tenths off for the American Evo VII. :aug2:

hey guys
u forgot that the evo7 doesnt have to be working its tyres on a 50:50 ratio, it depends on what ur driving on and the way u want ur car to handle. and the other thing is ofcourse u will get problems even though i wouldnt consider it to be a problem just a disadvantage with the low end and high end(never heard of a high end problem). if i had the cash i would go for the BMW M3 then there would be no problems at all(darn good car to go out and race at the same time). in the end i would go for the evo7 WHY? coz i sat in 1...... its so darn fast, always try the car and dont look at specs alot it can fool u btw dont make fun of the evo7 i might be getting 1 hehe

well my car is very quick with the boost tuned to 8 pounds but the rx-8 most probably will come with the twin turbos and that will spank my 4 door badly but if they detune the car and it comes single turbo i doubt it will beat my awd evo since the 4gs3 can handle 400 without blueprinting and working internals.

RX-8 vx Evo7??
RX-8 1.3l n/a rotary engine and Evo7 has 2.0l turbo l4 engine. But, rotary = 2 rotors x 654cc and in piston term, rotary 1.3l equivalent to 2.6l piston engine capacity.
Evo7 will eat RX-8 in 0-60 run but it may no be the case in 1/4 mile run. My friends and I have tested both stock RX-7 type RS vs Evo7 GSR in 1/4 mile and RX-7 (13.4) beat Evo7 (13.8) by a bumper.

The RX-8 wil STILL LOSE in a quarter mile battle w/the Evo VII. It wont make up the ground in that amount of time...but what someone said earlier is tru...perhaps in a race from like 100-160 mph...the RX8 could win...but it would be close...
Evo VII still...especially w/the variable diff control...nice stuff...not to mention the 14 inch Brembo's in the front and 12 inch Brembo's in the rear...the FMIC stock...and other nice goodies RX8 is supposed to do the 60 in 6 seconds... |

True true but this case can compared to the Skyline GTR vs Honda NSX. Skyline GTR being 2.6l turbo 4WD and NSX 3.2l n/a VTEC RWD. So definitely Evo7 will eat RX-8 in 0-60 and also 1/4 mile. But, on the other hand, i think RX-8 have high chances taking out Evo7 after 1/4 mile like running 1/2 mile or top speed.

The 20B was twin turbo, the 26B was NA peripherally ported and made 800HP. 20B = 2L, 26B = 2.6L |
