My friend used a layer of bondo on all the pieces then painted it, turned out real nice. Looks nice and shiny!

I think you could just sand the primer down if you want it smooth. But I really dont think that bondo will add that much weight I mean come on.
The 05 RSX Type-S interior is really nice IMO. I was thinking about trying to copy some of the stuff.
