Re: played around with a DSM

DSMs are supposedly the easiest cars to work on, and with awd, a v6 mustang would stand absolutely no chance.

Re: played around with a DSM

Ah, he's just new to the whole matter. I'm assuming this is like his very first performance mod ever on any car he's owned. True it does change the tone of your exhaust and make it sound meaner, but that doesn't mean everyone has CAI under the hood. What you are probably hearing is the intake sucking in air. I tend to hear a little psshhh when my car starts to suck in more are. Like most have mentioned, even a simple cone filter could change that.

Nonetheless, I think everyone should stop ripping on the poor kid, including myself. Atleast he's admitted to his faults, and is now becoming a descent contributor to these forums. So from me, Burntrice, I apologize for previous statements towards you. And don't worry it is an honest mistake to assume you heard CAI. Good story anyhow. Late...

Burtrice...HOW THE HELL DO YOU HEAR A CAI?
I have been actively driving and tunning cars for 9 years now, what the hell is the sound of a CAI cause seriously there is no way anyone could tell if a car had CAI, Short ram, or a simple open air filter from a rev at 4 feet away.
and its about time someone read a thread from ya where you dont get slaughtered. way to go chief.

HAHAHA BURN!!!

From the way he describes it it sounds to me like it was a base model 1.8 SOHC. cause I had a 2.0 DOHC n/a and it too smoked v6 ponies. and no I wassnt ripping on him, I'm glad he smoked someone, this poor guy gets crap from everyone, you BS once and they just never let it go. Its cool to see he takes it like a man, accepts he made a mistake and dosent cry about the fact that we still mess around with him, to me that desserves serious respect.

silly guy

i've heard you say twice that a dsm can outrun a mustang gt

stock for stock a 99-03 mustang gt runs low 14's, like 14.1

your car is a low 15 high 14's car

so which is faster?

don't go by simply what you have seen on the street. sure a modded dsm can beat a stock stang gt, but a modded anything can beat almost any car, so thats a pointless comment.

Re: played around with a DSM

i'm confused...intimidated?...no most likely not, V6 stangs won't race me for crap (besides one and i'm waiting for tires) because they know...they are slow, now the turbo dsms are a little bit faster stock for stock than my car so i find it hard to believe that you intimidated a turbo dsm or for that matter a non-turbo 4g63 dsm just because the power to weight ratio is not in favor of your 3.8 liter 150 hp pushrod V6 3,000lbs compared to a 2.0 liter dohc i4 2600?? prolly less pounds

if you live nearby i know a couple guys w/ V6 mustangs that'll race you for gas $$

know your competition...know them better than they know themselves...and especially NT eclipses, 240's, honda's, and cavaliers because that will be your best competition

as for an eclipse beating one of the newer generation mustang GT's? w/ the mods you've listed treefrog, you'd only beat it if a grandma had a heartattack driving it and didn't hit he gas pedal down all the way
i've seen dsm's run stangs...intake, exhaust, bov, lowered, and upped the boost and could not keep up before the stang missed third gear....then again he couldn't keep up w/ me until he hit third gear so figure that one

Re: played around with a DSM

yeah i know the new generation stang gt is no joke. all i'm saying is a few bills on a turbo DSM and it can spank the older GT's all day. how do i know? because a few basic mods can easly get a turbo dsm into the high 13's or low 14's with very little tuning.

Thanks you just saved me quite a bit of time.
stock for stock any 00+ gt mustang will take you off the line and you most likely won't get the chance to see his front bumper ever again, believe me, these v8 00+ stangs make up plenty for their v6 model's shortcomings and lack of speed.
This isn't to say you can't put about $1,000-$2,000 into the gs-t/gsx and have it rape anything out there on the road but stock for stock it wouldn't be pretty. Believe me, I have tried.
Edit - you beat me to the response, well said. The 2g turbo dsm's are an excellent platform to tune for the cash.

As far as this so called WHUMP, I hope this wasn't mistaken for turbo spool or an odd blow off valve. I've only really ever been able to hear a cone intake when at a standstill and the windows down giving hard revvs but even then its just a brief SLURP.

Thanx, I love when people tell it how it really is. I was gonna say, how does his almost stock car beat a GT? First he says how after the launch the GT has no chance. But of course, as soon as someone who knows his cars says something about it, he changes his story to "IF" he mods his car. Isn't his car turboed? So practically, a GT has no chance against him? And btw, a 99 Mustang is not new, it's 6 years old and it will still beat you. An 05 will destroy you.

That guy has been ripping on peoples' cars for a while and without even telling the truth. I love when people try to make their shit sound like the greatest thing in the world and get owned by people who know their cars.

I'm not a Mustang fan, but even I know that it will beat you. Be a little bit realistic. Does your shit smell like cologne too?

Re: played around with a DSM

Wow, thanks...you guys saved me lots of posts. but I decided to post anyway. I've beat them fancy pants GSXs with their AWD...I know I can take a GS-T. And someone said something about him getting dual exhaust, gt stuff...That reminds me of a 'cobra' I saw the other day. I saw him pull out...dude..it looked so convincing. I was like WOW, a cobra! and then I heard him accelerate. and I started laughing. Poor little six bangers. And um...since when is a six cylinder mustang a race car? Pfft...intimidating. shit dude..you MIGHT intimidate some kind of kia or hyundai but if that guy was turbo'd..no way.
