i have tryed the main relay and that didnt work. I called the honda dealer and asked them. They said that i have tried everything that they would have. The guy said that the next step is to in depth diagnostic. How would you do that

get yourself a helms manual and a multimeter.

All the wires work to the distrubuter they all have resistance. I used a multimeter. What else could i check with the multimeter? I have the chilton manual for it.

you may have got some bad wires/plugs/module/coil,
when you bought them brand new, its happened before & it could probably happen again, my mechanic said he would be over here at 5:30, he should know some symptoms for this problem, I'll write back.

has the car been running before? do u have the right dizzy? is it wired correctly? no wires cut anywhere? firing orders correct? timing belt is right? coil is hooked up right? put the cap on right? put the screw in the rotor to hold it?

no codes? there's gotta be codes...even if the check engine light isn't on, check for codes. Ur sure you here the fuel pump "hum" when you turn the key to on?

Yes the cars has been running before. Iwas driving it down the road and then it just died. My tach. peaked right before it died. Yes i have the right dizzy. Yes the coil is hooked up. its a new dizzy. new coil,New ICM, new wires, new plugs, new main relay. I did the timing. The timing belt is fine.

Usually if the dizy if off 180 degrees you'll get back fire. One thing for you to double check - from the coil to the cap there is a long pin backed with a spring. It's possible that you broke that pin while putting on or off and now it's not connecting. I've done it myself. Double check that - it's easily over looked. Also, make sure all your wires inside the dizy are tightly screwed down. I had my tach wire come loose once, so it does happen. Other than that I'd say try another dizzy. I've gotten a bad one before myself. Hope this helps.

The pin is not broken. i have checked that to. i am thinking that i mit have gotten a bad dizzy. I well try and get a new one agian.

I think i have the solution.....sounds like this is the problem....
check the ground on your thermostat. I have a REALLY good feeling it's either not tight or it's not connected. If it isn't that, make sure all the other grounds are connected too...valve cover and the tranny to chassis then chassis to negative terminal on the battery.... I don't think I'm wrong on this one tho...because the RPM spike sounds %100 like a bad or broken ground at the thermostat. That is the ground for your engine wiring harness...
