Re: opinions?

ITS $5000! With that other $1800 you could do the 97-99 Eclipse front and rearend conversion, and probably still have a nice chunk of money for some rims after that, or maybe some more mods!

Besides that you are gonna want a 95 for the simple fact that the ecu is modable on that year. If you endup building it up, and I know you will, nobody in their right mind would pass up that chance, you will need the 1995 socketed ecu. I know that I went nuts trying to find my talon, I wanted an eclipse gsx. I had to search my local market for close to a year before I found my TSi. I found the 95 to have less need for major upgrades, aside from the motor and tranny.dont loose faith. I know theres a GSX down there with your name on it. I realize that you arnt trying for the 10 second car that I am trying to build, but there is nothing that can compare to the tracking and cornerability of AWD. Beleive me on this. If you get the GST, your gonna want the GSX within a year or less.

I almost bought a couple GSTs and I am so glad I waited and got my AWD cause its so much better. Don't lose faith man, I looked for over a year before I found mine.

I can't believe that DSMs are worth so much more money down there... We get em for half that price with half those miles here in Ohio. Its about the only good thing Ohio is good for...

Re: opinions?

just get a GST and tell these guys to get off your case. If you're not going to street race from every light, drive in snow, then you don't "need" a gsx. if you just want a faster turbo dsm then get that 98 gst you where looking at.

that does seem like a good deal. i bought mine gst from a dealership spend 10k on a 99 gst with 71k miles. But its worth more buying it from a dealership because i got a 6 month warrenty etc.

best advice is to have a shop look at the car before buying, also do a car fax. don't wait to sell your car, because even gst's are hard to find, just get a car loan and buy it, then sell yours after the fact and dump the money into the loan.

Re: opinions?

I ran into the EXACT same problem at clipsekid99. Except I am a very picky bastard and wanted a stock car with less than 50K miles on it for under 10K. I searched for 9 months while doing heavy research into modding DSM's and the problems that might arise. Decided that when I found a 98 GST with 51K miles, clean record, driven by a woman in her mid-fortires, and for 8.5K....I jumped on it without a second thought. YES I will admit it, I am REALLY wanted AWD now, and probably could have found a talong Tsi AWD...but since I was so ignorant back then I got stuck with a GST...not that its a bad thing at all tho. Search more, find more, and get a Tsi AWD if you have to. Seriously...ADW pwns. I'm not that depressed cause I have dsm friends around here that let me drive their AWD's for fun, and damn is it good. As treefrog said...spinnin isnt winning, but at least you can be a highway beast. Search until you go blind for AWD tho, and then if you still cannot find any...search more.

Re: opinions?

yeah, I bought my TSi and I wish I had an AWD. However, I live in Canada and it would ba amazing with the snow. But either way, the feeling of AWD is uncomparable....OHHH WOW!!! But now I am putting a bunch of money into my TSi anyway, but I wish I had the AWD, regardless.

Re: opinions?

I've got the same problem too. I've been looking for a GSX for over a year. 97-99 gsx's are never less than $13000 here. That 98 GST from autotrader that was $6,800 would NEVER happen around where I live. They sell for like $10k and up. I mean if that car's in good condition, you could just buy it and drive it up to WA and make $4000 profit, lol. If I lived in Florida I would jump on that even though it's not a GSX. Btw, thats like $2000 under KBB.
