Re: Team Blue hair

I thought this thread was going to be about 80+ year old street racers in Florida. I'm dissapointed

you dont see electrical current. you see the color oxygen and nitrogen emit when current travels through them. just like the color you see when current travels through the different noble gasses to make all the pretty colors. when current flows the valence electrons transfer and the color is a result of the lower electron levels trying to fill in the gaps then droping back down to their original level. Sorry, im nit pickey. Nissan has a similar color to honda and calls it something electic. Its nothing like an electric arc. and arc is more of a white wit ha pale blue tint. but hey, it still looks nice.

Re: Team Blue hair

Interested in buying it? or its little brother actually. THat one is a 4cuft tuned to 32Hz. That same weekend i built an exact replica (we where lazy and didnt want to draw out 2 different plans) Only 3.2cuft built for 2 audiobahn AW 10's.
Yes i know audiobahn sucks. I have an Adire Audio Tempest on the way and am currently looking to sell this it with the woofers to pay for some more MDF and other building materials. PM me if you do want to know more about it. Though i always forget to check my PM's i will get to you eventually. or E-mail me. I think my e-mail is in my profile.

Re: Team Blue hair

Nah, I was just saying looked very well done. I have 2 10s (they are mtx ~ so you will probally hate them) but I got a box already, it is sealed and tiny because My mustang doesnt exactly have a huge trunk.

Re: Team Blue hair

I dont "hate" MTX. but if you are looking For high quality....

Adire Audio
Resonant Engineering
JL audio (W7 and W6v2 if you can get them for a decent price)
Digital Deigns
eDesigns (their amps are all that i personally like)
Tru Technoligies
Imiage Dynamics
Hifonics (amps)
USA amps
Crystal Audio
Pheonix Gold (amps)
There are a few others

are the best of the best as far as car audio is concerned. MTX 9500 series are very loud but sound like ass. SPL competition and Rap only. Audiobahns get loud but are very in efficent (take a ton of power to get loud) but they sould like ass as well. If you are really looking to get loud and sound good efficently i would reccomend either a W7 13.5, Brahma 15, or IDMAX 15. or if you want to get loud and sound good but power isnt a nissure (you enjoy raping your altinator and battery) an XXX 18 would be the way to go.

Its funny that you know all that about electronics but can't spell alternator. Not trying to be a jerk, just amused.

Re: Team Blue hair

Well I was looking into going for a snail shell 9500 (give alil sq help with the ss) or two 10s from adire or RE. But I got my two MTX's for 80$ shipped. Not bad for two 10s that have 400 rms each.

Re: Team Blue hair

Audiobahn is an SPL oriented company. if all you care about is pounding the ground then go for their higher end stuff. if you want to pound the ground and sound good, audiobahn is far from what you want. their woofers are inefficent and distort greatly even at low volume playing. They use your normal everyday coild an single magnet feild giving it a horrible BL curve and limits their xmax.
Woofers such as the brahma and XXX use XBL^2 motor technoligy. i would explain how it works extensively but im lazy and your eyes would fall out. Think of it this way 2-3 magnets with feilds that overlap perfectly so as the coil moves it moves efficently from one to the next givig it percision movement at all frequincies and excursions. the JL w7 uses DML technoligy, im not as familure with it but it acomplishes the same thing in a very different way. Image Dynamics also uses their own motor technoligy to obtain a flat BL curve (FYI BL is related to the strenght of the driver as a curve over an entire frequincy range)

XBL^2 cost a pretty penny though. but adire, RE, DD, etc... all also know how to make an efficent coil capable of reaching great excursions on minimal power and still sounding good through research. Audiobahn and many other mainstream ocmpanies focus their products an being the loudest with the most power handleing. Audiobahn overrates their woofer's senstivity greatly. they add a few more windings to their coil to obtain greater powrehandleing while sacrificing sensitivity. and the funny thing they are only hurting themselves. if you add enough windings to double power handleing but you loose 3dB sensitivity you gained nothing. because it takes either double the power or doble the displacement (related to surface area*Xmax so basically doubleing the sirface area) to gain 3dB.

also companies such as Kicker, MTX, Audiobahn, etc. will give box reccomendations for pure SPL. this means high tuning and large displacement. the resulting factore is limiting low end exteantion because port velocity gets out of hand and therefor cuases an uncontrolled cone movement if you ever play low low (sub 28Hz) frequincies.
