A note for sanding: Make sure you're washing the parts and the sanding pads as you go. If the sanding pads are clogged with cut-away paint, they won't cut anymore. And, if some 4000-grit chunk of paint is left on the part when you get to the 6000+ grits, you'll catch it and drag it around and scratch all your work back up as you go.

Everything was wet-sanded, but I don't think I washed the surface between sandings, in afterthought!
![]() I'll try again later tonight! |

Hmm, progress is halted. I resanded the wing, and got the same disappointing results! So I will stop polishing the body and just add a clear coat (if primera-man is reading this, he will be shaking his head in disgust
)Well the reason why progress is halted is because....... .................................................. ................................ I'm waiting for my new airbrush to arrive I'm tired of sloppy and uneven coats of paint from brushpainting! I'm tired of Tamiya's poor brush painting qualities! Blah blah blah...I just wanted an excuse to buy an airbrush ![]() The undercarraige needs to be painted X-18...a huge expanse of surface that will look incredibly shitty if I handbrushed it...so I will wait for the airbrush also, since its a convertible, the interior will be one of the first things people look at, it's a two-tone X-18/flat red, so that needs to have a kickass paint finish too finally, I want to spray Future clear coat on, instead of handbrushing it, as part of my training ![]() I already bought a model to experiment airbrushing on, a Revell 2001 Z06 Vette, can't wait!!! If I'm a slow learner expect no updates to this thread for quite a while :grey: That's all, I guess! :grey:

Hehe, it's arriving this week, so I'll tough it out and wait til then, plus none of my shops carry TS's, and I don't feel like paying $5 for a 3 oz can of Model Masters Semi Gloss Black |

Hmm, I think my problems are due to the nature of enamel paints in general, they tend to cure softer than acrylics and lacquers, which probably makes it bad for sanding, or maybe I haven't let it cure long enough, I read that some modellers wait 6-8 weeks
for their enamel coats to dryMaybe I will have better luck with auto acrylic lacquers Anyway, pics of polish vs. unpolished to come soon, I hope |

here
Here you can see the difference...notice how the hood of the Mythos doesn't reflect light...while the polished engine cover does..
![]() But it's not perfect...the reflections are soft, and cloudy, and there are still scratches to be seen..as can be seen here ![]() Can't wait to cover in future...arrive, airbrush, damnit!!
