I'm with Yogs and Vettemaan on this one. I think I'll rent it when it hits video, but not waste my money on going to see a movie that looks just like a bunch of un-realstic rice.....
BTW, I'm not usually too fond of guys like this:

Ok now that AF is back up i can post up my response about this movie ....Oh my gosh I loved it
if you like fast cars and imports then you'll love this movie . There were parts where they were kinda trying to throw a sales pitch ( corona) "I only drink CORONA" lol there are some rice cars but there are also some really really sweet cars for ex . Supra , RX-7 . They used A little bit too damn much NOS ....OK Wayyy too damn much nos but besides that i would give this movie a Thumbs up .

I saw it today. (Thanks, SkYLiNeFrEaK :flash: ) It was actually way better than I expected. It had a lot of nice cars, albeit with some crazy graphics, and hey, it actually had a plot. Not a great one, but it was there.
I liked the part with the silver S2000, but why did they keep calling it a "Honda 2000?" I wish they would have done more with the Skyline, but I'll bet it was "borrowed" and it wasn't allowed to do stunts. The Silvia was super-nice, too. The action scenes (not the races) were put together very well, but I'll bet there was a good reason they used Civics. For the budget it looks like they had, those Civics were pretty much disposable. Also, good use of CG effects. Certain sequences "fly through" the cars' drivetrains. I'm pretty sure one takes you through a rotary engine. IMHO: worth the matinee price. ($6 for me) |

hey gang$tarr, should i leave now??? come on... gone in 60 seconds wasnt a good movie. it had cool cars yes, but the story was crap! the cars they concentrated on were IMO pretty lame. they spent too much time talking about the benz's with the laser keys. and im not much of a old musclecar dude, but i thought they could have picked a better car to have the last chase with. now you really love me dont ya gang$tarr??

I thought TFATF was a sweet movie. I love cars. It's obviously a car lover's movie, but the plot could have kept the attn of a non-car lover. My favorite scene was the first main race scene with the 4 cars (eclipse, rx-7, and the 2 others). It was a sweet movie. I think I'll go see it again.

Gran Turismo 2 is a racing game, and the game he was playing...... so what's your point? it was still funny, cause he was at the line, hehe, and he crashed in the game

I keep hearing that the Supra is on sale @ebay, from many, many, many people.
Any of you near LA? Take a trip to the Citywalk, located in Universal City (adjacent to Universal Studios), VERY SOON. Sitting there in the lobby of the Lowes Universal Cineplex, as if resting from a heating boxing match, is--you guessed it: that orange Supra from The Fast and the Furious. It's all there, funky graphics, cross-drilled rotors, drag tachometer. Check it out. I'll be sure to snap a shot for you all next time I go. Those of you who have seen it for sale on eBay: who was the listed seller? Universal probably owns it. If eBay states otherwise, there are likely TWO or more of the same car. I wouldn't be surprised. Have any of you seen Swordfish? The TVR Tuscan Speed 6 shown were actually 5 or 6 identical cars (great movie as well; anything with a car chase is worth the ticket--remember Ronin?). As for purchasing the Supra itself, I wouldn't. I would be in constant fear of vandalism or possibly even theft. Probably isn't even a "10-second car" anyway. Most of the gear I picked out under the various cars' hoods was visual junk; did you see all the colored vacuum lines in that Eclipse? I highly doubt they would use a real performance machine for the filming of a movie. The Champ cars in Driven never even reached freeway speeds. Silver S2000, thats precisely what I was thinking about the Civics. Notice how they were the only ones that took a real beating? Oh and just food for thought, Silver S2K, the S2000 that ran in "Drag Wars" MUST have been powered by an SR20. Remember that scene when the biker gang's lead demanded "a couple of Nissan SR20s" from the man who was 'oiled' in the garage? His S2K was lacking a motor. Nissan powered Honda... interesing, no? All in all, the film was much better than expected, well worth a couple of bucks--even though I saw it for free in April! |

But the only cars I saw without engines were Civics and Integras. Even so, would that type of cross-make swap require a rediculous amount of re-engineering? I've always heard that Honda engines run the other direction (clockwise v. counterclockwise) from almost all other engines. So they'd have to make all the Nissan drivetrain fit, right? But they only asked for the engines. As for the S2000, which they called a "Honda 2000" a couple different times, how could they fit an SR20 to a FR drive setup? Does Nissan use it for FR ever? Must get to CityWalk.... |

I saw it last week, definately too much use of NOS but I'm starting to really like that Supra. Some things were fake, yes they were! But all in all it was good car movie. As for the S2000, I know that it's a relatively new model and there isn't a huge NAican aftermarket parts bin. It could have bben imported from Japan were the story's a lot different. It had a modified hood and other body parts which I don't think are available in NA either. Unless you prove me wrong.

Hmm... not to be demeaning, but Nissan uses the SR20 for the majority of its well-known autos like the Silvia, or 180SX. The SR20DET was initially designed for front-mounted, rear wheel-drive chassi, succeeding the CA18DET. Therefore, fitting an SR20 into an S2000 would be a piece of cake. But why would anybody? The S2000's Honda F20C is a wonder in itself--no point in jacking around with a good thing... As for the reference to "Honda S2000"... What do they call it where you reside? Here, in the U.S. it's known as the Honda S2000. Hold on, wait a sec, Silver S2000 you're from Southern California. Am I not understanding what you are getting at? Please provide feedback...! |

they called it that cause it's alot easier to say "honda 2000" compared to honda S 2000
