My girlfriend HATES my car... with a passion. She hates EVERYTHING about it...

this thread makes me

1st- you'll be really loving life when a crx smokes your saturn

2nd- girlfriend doesn't like it = she's jealous of it. in that case i'd keep the car and ditch the girl. car's don't get jealous

3rd- you bought the car knowing nothing about it claming you got ripped off (because you didn't know anything) and then you blew it up. if i were your parents i would be barking up the same tree

4th- but i'm not mad at you. stories like this is how i end up buying cheap honda/acura. i take the poor car, fix it, and resell for twice what i bought for.

Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

I just want to put a new ZC in it... but i just started a new job and am having a real hard time getting there and still at my old job and school.... so its like I don't have a choice... I can't scrounge up 1000$ for a new motor + install.... So I am stuck getting some POS bottom of the line used Saturn....

i don't even live with my parents... they should just give me the 2000$ for the honda (muhahaha)

that is wrong that they won't let you borrow $1000 to fix the problem. however, if you agree to sell it they'll buy you a saturn tell them to stop showing prejudice to your car

how is this. buy the zc or *cough* y8 *cough* and also buy yourself an engine picker for $125. it will take no more than 2 days and some blood, sweat, and tears. it'll give you a good story and a to the parents

i know it sounds scary, but it really isn't. this is no joke, this is what jer and i did today:

9:45am started pulling engine from rolled 95 sedan dx and then started pulling a bad engine from a 92 dx. with both engines out we took lunch at 1:00pm. took an hour for lunch so returned at 2:00pm. dropped the good 95 engine into the 92. it was turn key 4:30pm and went out the door 5:00pm

never have done it before, i would say take a day to:
-pull engine
-mount tranny + clutch to new block
-bolt it all in
-call it a day

take a second day to:
-plug all wires
-figure out all lines and hoses
-put suspension back together
-have half a day left to iron out any overlooked mistakes
-drive over to parents and do this
-pick up girlfriend for a hot date, but make her kiss the car and say sorry before you take her. it should make her happy you fixed your own car. that will save you so much money from now on!

Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

You don't understand, I pay 700$ a mont on rent/bills alone... that doesn't include food/gas/casual spending at the store or something.

I don't have teh 525$ for the ZC, If i had the money the swap would have been done already even if i had to do it myself.

Re: Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

then ask your parents for the $525 + lift and tell them how much you will be saving in the future by being able to fix it yourself

give them the ol' saying "give a man a fish and he's fed for a day. teach a man to fish and he's fed for a life time

Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

seriously, i don't like saturns - the body style never appealed to me, but i have a few friends with em and they are pretty reliable for a GM product

out of the house n parents still have control because they have money and you don't - i hope this new job works out for ya, and then your parents won't have any say in what you do

after you get everything straightened out, get the saturn, etc, buy another crx and pull up to your parents house :P

Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

I love how everyone is like "get a new car dude." The only problem with my car is me. It ran great untill I started fucking with it.

I love when I say "the only thing that's wrong with it is the motor" I know EVERYTHING else that is wrong with my car or what's been replaced. Now that I have a good rebuilt motor, I have a strong car and I know what has to be done with it. If you get a used car who the hell knows what your going to have to deal with. If you know it'll be straight if you get a good running motor then I'd work for that. I love my crx, I think if I get a new car later on I'll still keep my crx.

I hope you get to keep it.

Re: get rid of my CRX = get a free car

Why not take out a loan on a new car?

A: He has been saying he wants to keep his crx, he likes it.

B: The bank is more likely to give him a $500 loan than they are a multi thousand dollar loan for a car.

C. Intrest rates are are really low right now, plus it will build credit for when he is able to by a new car.
