im pretty sure that was his point. But hey, if he liked it, then GREAT, im glad. Its done very well. I think I'm gonna build something for my trunk as well, come spring time, when its not 10 degrees out with 16 inches of snow.

Re: Progress:: Friends 2000 Civic

it looks good you do some nice lookin installs...and I don't mean to sound like an ass but.... Why do you guys use low line MTX and Pyramid....I know theyre cheap, but you can get a lot better subs for not too much more. I think type r 12's are like 100 for a pair on ebay... ED's k series are like 100ish each.... RE series is pretty cheap.....Even a single shiva or tempest.

Well I just paid $80 for 2 10" MTX Thunder 8000 subs shipped. They are 400w rms. Low line cause it's mtx? maybe...but I happen to like mtx (I was planning on a 9500), and I dare you to find something better in the price range.

Re: Progress:: Friends 2000 Civic

I was reffering to his subs being lower in the MTX line....and yes I do consider MTX subs low line...all but the 9500 and all that is, is a big fart machine. And I would rather have a couple re8's then thunder 8000 10's...may not be as loud but would sound better. 13k2 re12 w0 shiva type r 12 the cheapest price on ebay for 2 800010's was 93 so well call that the 100 dollar price range.

Well when I was looking for the 9500, it was purely for spl reasons. I was going to have one in a snail shell box and that would have done wonders for me. However, I found a site that had thunder8000s for 37$ each and 5$ tax on both, so I got the subs for 79$. I was never looking specificly for 8000s, but It was a good deal. I like sq, but i really like a system that gets louds, I know half of the pro music guys here think that is stupid, but thats personal opinion...and I think MTX fits my needs. Im not going to say they are the best subs, but they are good for my needs.

Snail Shells are far from SPL boxes... They're made for sql purposes.

Yea that was the point....I heard from haibane, who directed me towards powered4sound that it would give alil sq, which is what the 9500 lacks.

i took apart my friends amp today his Legacy amp, what a peice of garbage i first noticed that the fues which is 20 amps i was like hmm...thats strange so i figured to myself what i learned that the total it can handle is tha amp x volts = X so 20 x 12 = 240 watts. Upon more inspection i noticed that the transitors for the speaker outs are rated no more than 50 watts, and i also took my ohm meter and found the transistors on the power supply side to be bad, ill be running out to get some in the morning and fix this thing already, idk what to say besides you pay for quality.....

i forgot to mention that the amp says on the cover thats it 500x 2, which is such a joke its not funny.....
