Well If You Can Get The Tools. I Would Go Ahead And Start On It. I Would Expect You To Pay Around 800.00 - 1000.00 To Do This Rebuild If The Block And Heads Are Good/ Rebuildable.

Advance Auto. They deal with 2 companies.I went with the Spartan built crate engine. This company had less warranty claims. The other company Recon has many claims,so keep that in mind.

Re: Rebuilding 97 2.2

I think you are waisting your time rebuilding the engine when you can get a new one for $100-200 more. You will have to take the engine out with both and most things will be taken off the old engine either way.

Re: Rebuilding 97 2.2

When my 4.3 spun a main,I looked at all my options.Rebuild, used engine, crate engine. To rebuild was expensive(I wasn't doing it),a used engine cost to much and most had to many miles, that left me with the crate. The crate cost a little more than the used(not much)and it came with a 18 month unlimited mile warranty.Keep this in mind.

Re: Re: Re: Rebuilding 97 2.2

I called AutoZone, and they do not deal in Spartan Engines, and they want $1500.00 for one. I dont think that is the way for me to go.
