pimp my ride? right... as i stated above, its mostly preference. i have nothing against turbos, this was just a response to someone who stated that turbos were way more efficient than s/c's.

btw, its a 2000 eclipse gt (5spd, same as gts model, they just didnt call it that yet.)

Re: Going Supercharged

its not, fed specs have a different exhaust system that gives them more power and the cali spec GTS's have the variable intake timing

i'm just saying, with the boost if you wanted more boost later on...say if you got bored, all you'd need to do is flip a switch, adjust a manual boost controller, or hit the buttons on your electronic one instead of having to change belts, you can still upgrade turbos a lot easier, i'm not going turbo on my 3g cuz of the warranty but i'm looking into a 240 or an old school GSX for some boosting fun

fair enough...s/c'ing is my game (although i am with you, warranty > forced induction...that is what my '69 jeep is for) though, a gsx would be pretty fun, i have to admit. btw, i was saying my car is similar to the gts in the options aspect (leather, infinity, etc). i realize they are not carbon copies of each other.

while im already here, do either of you gentlemen know if the gts brake rotors are as prone to warping as the earlier model gt's are? mine are already starting to go...also, do gts's have the same throw out bearing rattle in the transaxle? thanks

I was gonna say the 00 GT is not the same as a GTS. I was looking to get a new one, but I didn't want to pay the price and I knew that the 00 and 01 GT's were similar to the GTs's, but way cheaper. But I didn't know the actual specs on whats different, so I didn't open my mouth and make myself look stupid... unlike some around here

Re: Going Supercharged

i am not too sure regarding the rotors. a month after i installed my turbo kit, my rotors were shot. ive upgraded to the AEM gt big brake kit w/ the slotted rotors. much better, the difference is almost like night and day. plus it fills in the konigs much better. the problem is most likely common with all 3G's. Mitsu's way of cutting corners to lower costs. either way, the first thing i would suggest any 3G owner to do is to replace their rotors with quality aftermarket ones.
i dont think aftermarket rotors would void your warranty, but who knows.

as for the throw out bearing rattle, i am also not sure, i have a gst sporttronic with the dthree designs flexplate and a rebuilt lsd out of an old 2G gst. flipped the cams, and its good as new. iam sure a fellow gt owner will come along and be able to help.

in the mean time, i'm going up to "super" walmart to pick up a case of keystone light- on sale $9.99

Everytime you post you make my head hurt. And to say in your other posts that S/Cs are as efficient as turbochargers is just asinine. They both have high and low points, but when we're talking scavenging exhaust gasses versus a parasitic S/C, efficiency shouldn't be a question.

well...you obviously have no real experience in the s/c department. your comment regaurding s/c's as parasitic is a failed attempt at using big words...at best. feel free to quote me where i, at any time, specificaly stated that s/c's are as efficient as turbos (this is a forum, dumbass. everything is what we refer to as 'opinionated'). also, im sorry your head hurts, i didn't realize you're only at a first grade reading level.

are you really that concerned with exhaust specs? all the options on both models are the same, they are both the top of the line v6 optioned eclipse. granted, as i posted above (read prior posts, smartass) the gt and gts are not carbon copies of each other (the same even with the different model years of the gt...this is a given to any moron who has ever researched cars in general).

Re: Going Supercharged

i have not a clue, but i was thinking i could get some brembo stock sized rotors cross drilled and slotted, also get some 00 GT 2 piston calipers instead of the singles we have...however doing this could prove more difficult in practice than in planning

my rotors will be shot before i hit the 25k mark just because i drive hard

Well said LandoAWD

JFowler - why not stop with all the personal attacks? All your doing is demeaning yourself and showing your real age. This is a place to come and share real knowledge and and not be trying to piss people off.

Oh so now your saying they aren't the same, but yet you were just saying a 00 GT is the same as a GTS. Did YOU have to go research before you came to post to see what the differences are?

In My Personal Opinion, Jfowler85 should've been banned, not crazy_ugly_coyote.

Lemme apologize to the rest of you for the aggressive response. I just hate when someone else starts throwing personal attacks with no real post content, so I figured I'd throw both back at him.
