Im watching worlds wildest police chases right now, I love watching them but the narrator guy pisses me off so bad with some of the BS he says. luckily the suspects driving was no match for the officers years of training and practice or whatever and this is after it took the cop like 8 hits to finally make him loose control, AFTER both rears were shot out and the cop took longer to regain control after every one of the first 7 hits.

they try and make cops out like they are the most gifted people in the world.

when I die though, thats how Im going out. in a stolen ferrari or something.

Lol, this video always comes to my mind.

http://content.collegehumor.com/medi...3vspolice3.wmv

It's a 15 year old in a E30 M3 that get's away from the police, and this idiot who's commentating says that "the BMW breaks down." If you look closely, when he said that, they're just replaying the part of the 15 year old making a U-turn. I guess they just didn't want everyone finding out that the 15 year old got away.

Some cops are gifted, I've seen some pretty bad ass driving by the men in blue, and I have alotta respect for them (my dad was a cop for ten years). However, not all of them are great. Also, those Crown Vics are boats...

I love that video though.

Oh, and I wanna go out after stealling a Mclaren F1, robbing a bank, and leading police on a cross state chase in which speeds never drop below 150mph. Or peacefully in my bed surounded by family. I'm a man of extremes.

Re: Interesting police chase tonight ...

I dont really have any disrespect for any of them, but I do hate a select few, I got pulled over with my friend (him driving) for wreckless driving, he flew into a mall entrance like double the posted speed and someone had just got hit there a week earlier by somebody doing the same thing, he get let off and I get pulled over for 11 over on a back road and the ass gives me a ticket, and Ive gotten pulled over a couple times over here on the east coast and been told Im the biggest dumb-ass this guys ever seen in his life. and another told me quit giving him so much sarcastic bull shit and being a smart ass, and I simply told him I wasnt trying to be a smart ass I just wanted to know if the man whop told me the story about plates was true and I did buy the car not steal it and heres the title and told me to shut my mouth cuz im just being a sarcastic little bastard and that he cant make a titrle on the computer in 10 minutes.

and im sure there are some cool cops out there and some good drivers, but they ALWAYS try making cops sound like they are god on those shows, and I think i saw that BMW video once, its a sweet vid. I hate it how they never show anybody who gets away, but I guess that could just encourage more people to run from them. I liek it to when they say stuff like "but his performance vehicle hugs the road and swerves quickly around the spike strips" and then they are chasing a civic or something.

Re: Interesting police chase tonight ...

Okay, I got a few comments:
1) 13 MR2's?! Holy cow! That's frickin' messed up! Awesome, but messed up!
2) That video rocks!
3) I'm going out in a stolen ferrari as well! How cool would that be?!

Re: Interesting police chase tonight ...

Wait .... 13 is incorrect. I have had 11 MR2s.

11 MR2s over 11 years ... and it's not like they were all turbo beasts.

Only 4 were MKII turbos, 2 MKII NAs .... the other five were MKIs.

I paid $9400 for the last 5 MR2s I have owned ... that's only $1,880/per car on the average.
How many of you have spent close to $9800 on one car?

I'm trying to decide what I should do. I kind of like MR2 thanks to you Jeff, but it's sort of a tossup between:
1. putting a k20a2 in my CRX cost $5-6000, hp=220, but still fwd, not good for scca events
2. getting about a 93-94 mr2 turbo for about $5000, would take time to get used to, plus it would probably have a lot of miles on it
3. get about a 99 miata with under 75000 miles on the engine, the bad: it's like 140 hp and it would cost like $7-8000.

I'd go for the MR2 if I were you. That's just my opinion. ( or a 240! )

Re: Interesting police chase tonight ...

clawhammer, in todays world of the Internet you may want to look at what kind of community support you would get with each car.

Compare the CRX, MR2 and Miata boards and see what the people are like. The MR2 board is down right now ... should be up by tomorrow. I've never been on the CRX and Miata boards, but I know the MR2 worls is very welcoming.

I am not a fan of FWD ... so you know which way I would go with your decision

Re: Interesting police chase tonight ...

Also other than the turbo charger itself, what is going to be the difference between the non-turbo and turbo models of mr2s? If I get an mr2 then i'll just get a t3/t4 turbo, that basically replaces the stock turbo, correct?
