But within the crowd of people who will be looking at the car, an automatic transmission will only turn them away from it. The only people that pay good money for modded cars, will not want an automatic. That's what I mean about devaluing, and the fact that he is talking about selling it and getting a Prelude. Why take away from the value of your car, by adding performance upgrades, when you are planning on selling it. And turboing an automatic Civic is stupid. Yeah that would be great to drive, waiting for boost all the time in all of your four gears. There are many more reasons than just money as to why people don't turbo automatics.

it is your opinion that modding an auto is stupid. that doesnt make it true. there are MANY turbos on the market. saying that you can't get a turbo to spool on an auto is a comment lacking in research. there are turbos out there that make boost at low rpm. it is all about how you pick them

there are plenty of turbo automatics out there, most of them just dont happen to be civics

I cannot believe people are sticking up for an automatic Civic. OK, yes there are plenty of turbo cars that are automatic. They also generally have more torque than a Civic. They also are usually not ideal for being fast. If you want to talk muscle cars, I can see an argument like this, but Civic's don't have torque, and on a motor with very little torque, it's not good for being fast if it's an automatic. Yes some turbos can spool up quickly, but they will also max out quickly. Remember, to me there is no good reason to mod a car, i9f you aren't making it fast, and for some sort of racing.

a question...

im not sure how turbo output is usually measured (if kilowatts is a standard method) but the fact that he said kilowatts says to me that perhaps this is one of those "electric turbos" that are so prevalent on ebay. for an in-depth look at these marvels of craptitude check this out

its a riot.
also, this site has some pretty good (im not sure how accurate) info on how to make turbos found in the junkyard work with your engine
