I have a loud system, but theres this little device I discovered to keep it under control at night or in a neighborhood. Its this crazy thing called a "volume knob". Check out your stereo, you might be lucky enough to have one too. I also think that loud exhausts should be given tickets. But then, shouldnt motorcycles be given tickets also? Noise is noise, no matter the source.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

I think the real saying goes, "excuses are like buttholes....." However, I am a fan of that version too lol. go ahead and fight the case, but your excuse for having your music up so loud, will probably be just like your butthole.. and stink. Plus, I doubt you got pulled over on the highway, I think you just dont want to admit you were on a city street. I love loud music, but nobody cares that you have a good system, its just obnoxious to blare it where you will be bothering people. I dont pump my system as loud as I can when Im at a red light, but Im not gonna turn it ALL the way down because thats annoying to me. you can deal with the thump thump thump for 15 seconds, its no big deal, plus I stay about 20 feet behind the car in front of me at stop lights so I wont bother them (too much). But in neighborhoods when people are in their homes, I dont want to disturb them there.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

you know i have to agree with rickwithatbirds whole stament i think he hit the nail on th head out of all teh replys made on this thread, there has tob e a moderation reached with the volume of your stereo. Your right, a judge is gonan think thsi persons case is gonna stink. He will cite you for violation of a noise ordinance that you probably did get on a city street cuz lets face it who the heck is gonna hear it gonig down teh highway, for the 1sec it took you to pass a cop in the median. Nothing wrong with listening to music loud but isnt there a limit when your at a stoplight or barely moving?? how do your ears stand the decibles, honestly ive always wondred how ppl arent hearing impaired from it. When you stop and think of listening to music that loud it just doesnt make since, kinda like having pipes so loud you cant even hear your car goign down the road, no need for it, noise from pipes doesnt constitute power.

i love the ppl who have 5k into a stereo system that is for the most part covered from teh outside eye anyhow unless your at a car show, an di dont know about the rest of you but i pay more attention to the trick body work, interior, and engine, than i do a 5k stereo in teh trunk.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

i use to run prostreet, i like loud pipes myself, but like i siad doesnt constitute power ive seen ppl with exhaust that dont make hardly a nice rumble, pull on line and run a freaking 10 or 11, the guy next to em looses and hes got straight headers, gotta know somethinga bout proper exhaust c uz believe me noise DOESNT constitue power its how you set it up that does, and nothing wrong with THAT soujnd of music i love it mseylf, but not at a stoplight or when your trying to walk into the grocery store, and have joe blow come by with an obviously too large of a cam, and a set of 3 inch exhaust with a cutoff on only one side of the car, sounds like crap actually, make all that noise for nobody to see, lets face it not everybody is a gearhead and likes the noise like most of us do, at the track if you dont like, then ya shouldnt be there. but in town theres no need for it. I raced pro stock for about 5yrs now, and you have to find the line between the track and reality

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

Was the noise ticket the only one she got or was she stoped for speeding and was to dumb to turn his music down before the officer reached his car?

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

if you thinks $75 is bad. I got pulled over for loud music, to loud of an exhaust (i was down shifting to stop), tint to dark AND 5mph over the speed limit. Music-$85 Exhaust - $195 Tint - $108 Speeding - $315. cops in maine are douche bags

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

yea its retarded. I appealed it thank god because it was considered a speed trap the guy was behind a fence and bushes. and clocked me 40 in a 35 and then thought i was shit faced. and i did the whole sobriety test. cops in my town will pull u over if ur oing 1mph over and give u a rediculous fine. its unbelieveable they can get away with this shit

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

OK...have you ever considered admitting that you were breaking a law? yes, volume is a matter of opinion. The window tint thing might catch you by surprise. but speed limits are posted often and obviously. If you knew you were breaking the law, why are you so surprised that you're gonna have to pay for it?

Please take responsibility for your own actions, no one but yourself is to blame.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

Well i dont konw about eerywhere else but they use one offense to check for others, your trained to look for othres as ou approach the car, really you were to always be suspicious of the person. He used the small speeding offense as his ligitmacy for pulling you over, then decided to write you up for the others. Most of the time they give you 5mph over but some officers are hell bent on upholding the law to the books. All i can say is you were technically speeding so not much you can do about it, watch your speed, turn down music a bit, and if its darker than 3% take it off, exhaust id suggest a tuner, quick ezy fix a lil welding and some beer you can fix that too.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

I would assume if you had all those other offenses. That you would maintain a lower profile. And speeding is not maintaining a real low profile. I would assume that like the above mentioned volume knob. That you probably have a visible speedometer also. But there I go assuming.

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

inded its funny how ppl get mad when there pulled over for doing 5 over 2 over or 15 over, give an inch and they take a mile, if the speedlimit is 55mph then technically 56mph is speeding and a vaible reason to pull you over and although its a petty pull over, mostly beatable by saying my speedometer was broken (which in most cases this is true, i dont know a car that has PERFCECT calibraction) stil either way you slice it your breaking the law, noise ordinaces are set in place for reasons. Although some laws are petty and some are just down right stupid, we still haev to abid by them or face the consequences and in thsi case it seems like you broke plenty. When a car goes by you in the median its hard to catch all thsoe offenses right off hand, but as long as he has probable reason for pulling you over then if your car or actions brake the law while in his presence then he has right to cite you for it. My advice to you, suck it up and stop trying to beat teh system you screwed up now take yoru lumps, learn a lesson, its called school of hard knocks

Re: why do they have tickets for music being loud

you sound like a high school principal. Getting pulled over for 1 mph over is like being considered tardy for not being all the way sat down in your seat when the bell rings. Its hard to stay exactly on the speed limit. sometimes the road slopes, and the car speeds up by way of gravity, and you act like thats breaking the law. Shut up. Thats stupid. 5 mph over is speeding, but not worthy of a ticket if there are no other infractions. Sure a good cop may use that 5mph as a reason to inspect for something else, like drinking, or tint, insurance, whatever... but if you are all legit, they should just let it slide. If you ever go the speed limit, people will just zoom right by you, and thats because the speed limit is too slow. it's set to make money for the city. Not always for safety. Ticket the people who deserve it, not average Joe who rides all legal but goes 5 mph over. If you think 1 mph over is breaking the law, then you need to get whatever branch is in your ass, out. And on that note, Im sorry that your parents hate you, dont believe them when they tell you that you were a mistake. Now get over it.
