Re: 350hp goal

nothing is impossible when it comes to cars, alls you need is money. theres a guy with a early 90's civic si close to 600whp. bugattis made the 1001hp @ 4800 or 5800, somethin like that, supercar. i'd rather hav a car i've put thousands of dollars, time, and pride in then spendin that money on another car.

Re: 350hp goal

i was thinking about doing the exact same thing, throwing 10k in my prelude and getting 400 out of it if i was lucky.

now i've woken up. my current plans call for a beat up old 86 camaro (msrp $900), a 350 crate engine with vortech heads ($2400), and more to come.

but just with that, its pushing 330 hp. more than you'd get even with a supercharged 5th gen. imagine if i used up all 10k. i'd turn it into fuel injection, build up the bottom, the top, and twin turbo the bitch. probably reach 800hp with even more torque.

its not worth throwing money into 4 bangers. i plan on eventually boosting 5-7lbs on the lude, but have the camaro as my race car.

Re: 350hp goal

that sounds real nice, good luck with the camaro, my buddy found a old bmw v12 for 20grand, he wants to take that an work on it. i'm still gonna go ahead with the prelude though, i'm not a big fan of muscle cars. the only ones i like are the vintage (60-74) mustangs, camaros, and chevelles (sp?).

Re: 350hp goal

yea why buy a car if u have no part in taking the time and effort to customize ur ride. thats like this stupid fuk at my school who bought someone's idea of what a cool car is. he brags about it all the time but he did nothing to it and made no decision on how it looks or runs.

600 whp out of a FWD is rediculus let me list the reasons why.

To get 600 whp out of a honda engine will cost you a rediculus sum of money and thats just the engine. Be prepared to spend a fortune on suspension tuning as well because with 600 whp in a front wheel drive you're going to need it. It will not be street driveable it wont handle well because you have so much torque been pushed through the front youll understeer alot. It probably wont be reliable and if it is prepare to spend even more money. Why not buy a car with more potential and throw half as much money into it to get a better result.

But I fully understand if you're doing it just because you love the car and want it to go fast. But jesus.

Also retard324 you're best bet is a beefed h23 internals the whole deal and a turbo to get 350 horsepower. Thats as high as anyone should ever take a fwd because beyond that it's rediculus. I dont think youll be doing the work yourself though youll be paying someone to do it for you so you can be proud you have the fast fwd car I spose but someone else will have done the work. True pride comes from putting in the wrench time youself. Just remember so far you only have a shopping list it will take a long time for all that work to get done a very long time.

Re: 350hp goal

who said i was gonna pay someone else? of course i'm gonna be the one workin on it. if i wanted a fast car i would hav bought a 3000gt or supra or something. its not gonna be a daily driver, its gonna be my fair weather on the weekends/strip car. i might buy a porsche from a police auction as my daily driver, and if theres anything wrong with it, i'll work on it.

Re: 350hp goal

How do you switch a front wheel drive car to a rear wheel drive?

6 cylinders are good, 8 cylinders are even better

i only need 4 cylinders though and that can produce an amazing amount of power.

Sounds like your trying to compensate for something (j/k)

Re: 350hp goal

you switch fwd to awd or rwd by a combination of expensive things including new tranny new driveshaft, new suspension, new break setup ( usually to compensate for the shift in power to different places)...and so on

Re: 350hp goal

Well I know the reason I wouldn't buy a new car is because of car payments, and because of voiding the warrenty. I would rather have a prelude that I could put monthly mods on than having to put all the money I work for in a new car. But, thats just me.

2 month old thread guy, modifing cars is about buying a cheap car and puttin a lot more money than what its worth into it. take restoring old 60s muscle cars for example. you can find one in a junkyard for a few hundred dollars, hav you noticed theres restored ones selling for 35grand? people hav put more money than that an a lot of time into it. i'm guessin you havent read all the posts.
