Re: Best subwoofer for Nissan Kingcab
Yes you can buy an amplifier fan that mounts right on top of the Amp. that would be a great choice

Re: Best subwoofer for Nissan Kingcab
Mounting an amp on the enclosure isnt a good idea. 2 reasons, Theft and vibration.
an amp rack that completely encloses the amp and has a few CPU cooler fans flowing air through the enclosed rack will keep the amp cooler than if you had it left out in free air. i cant seem to find a link by what i mean. i may have to find some pics of some of the ones i have built. |

Hey, my 91 has a box thing under the passenger seat, I'm not sure if it's the same thing you're talking about. Maybe it has to do with the passenger seat folding forward and sliding back to allow people getting the back? The drivers seat has room under it though. Tell me more about this sealed box and amp thing where the jumper seats are! It sounds interesting!

THE SUB BOX
Basically what I did was remove both the jump seats and the plastic trim, I then on the passenger side made a cardboard template for the box, I did a top, bottom, the two sides and front, I just left the back as the body metal on the truck. The cardboard templates were then transfered to some 3/4" ply, I used liquid nails to attech the box side to the truck body(on the inside) and silicone and screws to attach the frond and the top, sides, and bottom to the front, I let that set up over night, then I traced to hold for the sub and cut it out using a sabre saw. The box was then covered in the stock color carpeting wires run, insulated and the plastic trim was trimmed and replaced. THE AMP As for the amp, I placed a piece of wood against the body, larger than the hole, I then cut small 3" hole throught the body between the cab and the box. and placed some screen on the inside. I then cut some sides the one towards the back had a hole approximately where the hole in the body is, and a cpu fan added so it was between the truck body and the box side. I put a small round vent that I found at the hardware store in, and attached it to tha back with liquid nails, made a bottom, and other side with an identical vent installed.and a hold drilled.for the wires towards the back. I painted it a color close to the carpeting and let dry, I left the top open for extra cooling.after that was dry, I made a front with a large opening not sure on the dimensions any more but it was a good size hole. The front was attached with screws and carpeted. I then ran all the wiring and installed the amp. I then bought a piece of plexi glass to cover the opening, I had neon light above the amp put of veiw where it glowed red. I had the neon, and fan hooked to a relay then to the remote turn on wire. Thge plastic trim was trimmed up and installed. I think it looked cool, and it sounded pretty good. Good luck with yours |

I made a couple of crude images on paint to show what I mean, They aren;t the best but, I don;t have any pics of the actual install |

Damn that sounds awesome... how come you don't have that system anymore? What brand of amp and sub was it?
Thanks for the lengthy description and the pics... the only thing is I only want to spend a few hundred dollars, plus it will be just me and my limited mechanical abilities installing this stuff, so drilling through the truck body isn't really an option. What about a rolling cover that covers the whole back cab? Like on Ford Ranger trucks... |

I don;t have that system anymore becaus, The vehicle had a lot of miles and began to show its age. The amp I used was just a cheapo one, It was a 2 channel 500 watt jensen, and the sub was a 12" pioneer. The sub fit ok in my truck and ther was about an inch to two inches behind the sub. The hoel in the truch body was just for a vent, you could hook up a vent by other means, maybe just in the one side since the top would probably be left open. The rolling cover would work but, how would it look? I wanted mine to look like a prafessional install, my friends and I thought it looked pretty close. I got enough volume, It dosn;t take much since the truck cab isn't all that big to begin with.

Re: Best subwoofer for Nissan Kingcab
I don;t think I spent much on it, less than 150 not including the amp and sub

That's awesome... I'm thinking maybe an amp under the drivers seat and then a sub box in the back, maybe kind of under the jumper seat in the down position? I don't know... it would have to be a tiny box.
