Does the 4-12 qualify for this? I've seen its estimated top speed at 248mph 400kmph.

personally i would say no because we have no official testing yet. It might end up like the Veyron, of course i see that as very unlikelly since so far Chrysler delived on all their promises...but still.

Yea I guess when you design a car that can approach these type of speeds, the only way to be sure is to see it happen.

reading anyone? production car.

the veyron is just not the same as an CCR, for example.
the veyron's so heavy, I'd rather buy one, get a proper lightweight chassis + carbon body (edit: with proper aerodynamic features, would look like a lemans car probably..) and put it's engine in, tadaaa, 400+ kph

World's "Quickest" Production Car

There is a major difference between quickest and fastest.

If you want to know the quickest car, go to http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/fast.htm and check out who really is #1. Only 70 of the S/S Super Stock, 426 Hemi's were made.

The following items were deleted for this body type:

Heater, Body Sealer and Sound Deadeners, Silence Pads, Outside Mirrors, Right Side Seat Belt and Body Color Paint.

Also note that NO OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT OF ANY KIND COULD BE ORDERED

***
If you see one of these bad boys on the street, just let them by.
***

Each S/S buyer was given the following information from Chrylser at the time of purchase:

These vehicles are intended to use in supervised acceleration trials and other competitive events, therefore, they will be sold without a warranty. Special stickers will be provided for plant installation (attached to left "A" post) which will read as follows: "This vehicle was not manufactured for use on public streets, roads or highways and does not conform to Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

All customer orders must be accompanied by a signed disclaimer (sample attached) indicating that the purchaser understands that this vehicle is sold without warranty and does not conform to Federal Vehicle Safety Standards.

Any prospective customer who desires to purchase one of these maximum performance vehicles should be made aware of the following characteristics which make them unsuitable for general use.

A high idle speed is required to insure adequate lubrication, minimize roughness, and to keep the engine from stalling.

The modified intake manifold causes a rich surging condition, misfiring and unstable engine operation in cold weather, which makes ordinary street driving extremely difficult and it is not recommended for this use.

Higher than normal oil consumption will be encountered because of increased lubrication to the valve train and cylinder walls.

The carburetors are calibrated for maximum power and a high numerical axle ration is used for acceleration. As a result, the gas mileage is considerably less than for a conventional car.

Engine noise would be objectionable due to increased piston clearance and mechanical valve tappet clearance.

The ignition system is designed for optimum engine output and must be kept in top condition. This makes it necessary to inspect, adjust and replace the spark plugs and ignition points more frequently than would be necessary on a standard engine.

On car equipped with automatic transmission, band adjustment must be made frequently.

Due to performance characteristics, maintenance and operating expense will be high since premium fuel is required and frequent oil changes are a MUST.

Does not conform to Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

jup which doesn't really 'qualify' it to be a production car.

the CCR is built afaik about a 120 times now.
but it's a 'stand-alone-model', not a modified exception.

Dinan, about the weight/power ratio:
the Bugatti weighs approximately 1600kg and features 1001hp, the CCR weighs 1180kg and has 806hp.
That means, the CCR has only 1.46kg per hp and the Veryon 1.6kg.

But, what's really better (and more important as power is only a derivate of multiple factors) - the weight/torque ratio, and the fact that the Veryon is AWD. lets see

Re: 2004/05 Current World's Fastest Production Car

i've heard different top speeds for the enzo pagani Zonda and porche carrera gt(by the way i seen that car yesterday) i would think that if the other cars could move faster than 240, the mags would be all over it. but from what i read, the koenigseggs was a faster straightline car then the enzo and pagani Zonda. with that bieng said, i agree with most, the koenigsegg is king in straightline as of right now.
