I'm 21, from San Clemente, CA. My frist car was a '70 dodge challenger R/T, previous owner had done some mods: headers exhaust, cams, a big holley etc. I burned out accidently almost everytime i gave it gas. I had it about 6ths months before i sold it, way to much power for a first car. The next car was a black 91 camaro, it seemed pretty tame for a V8, after the challenger. It had a lot of problems so i sold it after about a year. Then i bought a civic to commute around (no mods.. its a civic after all), i really enjoy the mpg after having v8's. Last, but certainly not least, is the 280Z! My dad bought it new in 1975 and saved for me since i was young. I didnt want it to be my frist car since i was worried that i would mess it up with inexperience. Shes still in showroom condition and still my favorite car of all time. There's a pic of her on page 38 of the off topic forum.

I'm 21.
live in northern kenfucky.
restaurant manager.
born in so. cal...lived there for 13 years.
First car was an 86 2+2...got me into Zs. I've been into cars for my entire life. My parents talked me into selling it before I moved back up here from florida...regret it to this day.
I just sold my beater Celica (in the sig)
I just bought my 2001 Prelude little over a week ago.
I have my toy, the 300ZX Turbo that I'm going to start collecting parts for soon.
I'll probably have a Z31 and/or Z32 for the rest of my life.

Z32TT = WAAAAAAAAAAY too much car for anyone under 21, if you ask me...and even that's pushing it a bit...

If I were to buy a domestic car, it would be a Grand National...el spooge...fugly cars but fast as fuck. SRT-4s are nice, too...and don't gimme any shit unless you've driven one...

I'm the asshole here and the oldest. My first car was a 1930 Model A Ford with a Raja engine kit and it was the fastest thing in High school. I've been racing cars from 14 till the present. The fastest I've gone in a car is 450MPH on the Salt Flats. If you PM me I've got a killer video of the run.
My final goal in cars is to take a Zed to 300MPH on the Salt Flats. The car is being built now for the run. After that, who the fuck knows. Maybe learn how to shift a 5 speed.
The worse car I ever had was a Vega with a 454 in it. The funnest is my 1956 Ford PU with a 460 Cobra Jet punched and stroked to 705 cu.in.
I'm still under contract with Ford Motor Co. racing Trophy trucks in the desert, and why I live in Mexico. Lots of pratice. Nissan would like me to build a Titan truck for racing but I can't bring myself to another year of racing. Getting to old and don't want to commit to another year. Just want to play.

I'm 18 and am the only international that I've seen so far, living in Australia, but was actually imported at a young age from Scotland (I believe smuggled in a crate of whiskey but is unconfirmed) =)
First car was a 1985 Toyota Corona in 'fire-engine' red (the fire trucks ARE red in the States right?), which met it's untimely demise as I came over a hill (not speeding) one rainy night at 1am and ploughed into a Holden ute doing an illegal 3-point turn just over the crest of a hill, then he took off leaving me with a written off car.. Luckily my (ex-)gf's dad was a cop and nabbed the bastard (cops.. useful? huh?? what the?!?), and his insurance paid for my shiny silver 1985 celica (rwd one) which I am still driving today.. Currently on the verge of importing a nice TT 2by2 from Japan, thus explaining my presence on the forums =P

PS.. Wouldn't mind seeing that 450mph run, old guy! =)

PPS.. Should prolly mention I'm not really a true Nissan enthusiast.. Toyota's definately my favourite manufacturer, but respect needs to be given where respect is due, and Nissan truly do make some nice cars. In the end it was the looks and lure of double the turbos that swayed me to the z instead of the mk3 supra which I had been looking at for a next car =)

Steve I don't think it's fuckin crazy, it's what I've been doing all my life. Think about the dude that took the car over the speed of sound (705MPH), now thats a rush. As for a cardiologist hookin up plugs to read my heart beat, wouldn't do'em any good, I have no heart or blood. My body contains a small V6 pump that pumps adrenaline to my vitals. Driving at 60 isn't much different than driving at 450, just things go by alot faster. It's a mind thing, and the mind does play tricks on us. If I blindfolded you and put you in my car and took you up to 200MPH and came to a stop and took your blindfold off, it wouldn't even bother you, but if I did it without the blindfold, some people would shit their pants. Stupid brain trips.
I tried to PM the video and it don't work that way, but if anyone wants to see it email me at [email protected] unless someone tells me how to post it

Re: get to know the community

I am one of the old ones on the forum.

27 years old, been working on cars, about 10 years, never real seriously till recently. Did some street racing in my younger years, up till last year as a matter a fact. Was drifting before it was drifting in the US...... in WV we used to call it racing...... thats the only way to get around some of those mountain roads quickly. Been driving in more contries than most people have been to. And I have driven in ALL kinds of conditions. Most of my experiance has been with RWD cars and trucks, had 1 FWD car (ZX2 Escort) for a few years, good car, but not my cup of tea. I have driven all makes of cars, and I have seen some of the best, and many of the worst. Well other than that about my car, its a bone stock 300ZX(Z32/NA) Coupe Green, named the Green Hornet......dont ask I am a Bruce Lee fan.

I have to disagree with you on this one Steve. If you hit a brick wall at 90-120 or 200MPH, it's going to make pieces. The faster the speed, the smaller the pieces.
People Skydive, Surf, Mountian climb, Ski jump, Bungee jump, Race planes, boats, cars, trucks, motorcycles almost anything the mind can think of. Do they have a death wish? Hell no, there doing something they love, and always looking for a bigger wave, higher mountian, a faster this or that. Life runs on a very thin line, and when rules are broken someone gets hurt, just don't brake the rules and most of the time everything well be OK. As a pilot we have a saying, "A good landing is one that everyone walks away from".
I had a friend setting on his motorcycle at a red light hit from the rear, never knew what hit him, I had a Hemi powered Firebird takeoff at over 270MPH on the Salt falts and fly for over 800 yds, totally distroyed, and never got a scratch. So what's fair in life? Who the fuck to say. I've never figured that one out myself.
I came to this site in hopes to give my knowledge to the younger people that loved the thing that has ruled my life for over 55 years, before their parents were born, and have been told my past is old shit and no one cares, my pictures don't belong here, I'm full of shit, that no one wants to read my crap, and it's OK, cause I'm the one with the car in the museum, hold 5 or more world records, and well be the first to go over 300MPH in a stock production car, and them, well I guess the'll still be bad mouthing me for being a a$$hole.
