I think we're looking at the CAT as the culprit.....it is being diagnosed at a dealer now.....

Re: Transmission or not transmission...that is the question
Who told you that?
Don't allow mechanics to lead you on a wild goose chase. |

Not a definite diagnosis....but a possibility.....put it like this...the car is struggling, like it is starving ofr air/gas, and it I believe that if it is not the tranny, then it is in either the intake or exhaust. Hey, with all this banter here, I still haven't seen one solid suggestion.

Diagnosis! Computer is being told it is in 4 whel low, which is causing all the other malfucntions. We are looking at either the sending unit or a wiring/harnes short!

Transfer case Control Module AND 2 wires in Harness are sending false signals to the computer, telling it that it is 4 wheel low...this puts the tranny in safe mode, and trys to cut down the rpm and shifting. Gonna cost a grand to fix!

Re: Transmission or not transmission...that is the question
Oh boy, this is really strange.
Who told you this and where are the codes you have setting in your computer. Again, you watch yourself, this sounds like a wild goose chase.

It fixed the problem. Jimmy runs like a top now. By the way, the code was "transmission safe mode". I trust this dealer, a Chevy dealer, and owner is a distant relative. By the way the vehicle was behaving, it makes sense. Also, my wife tells me that the problem seemed to go away when she put ii in 4wd hi.

resetting codes should not take that long. Just dis the neg battery cable for a minute or so should be fine. All that has to happen is the energy running the comp memory has to discharge. Unless this computer is different than every computer I've ever seen.
