Why would you get a 305 with a 5 spd if your going to change the engine AND transmission anyways??

Why not just get a 350 with auto and put in a t56?

If you looking for a decent car I would stay under 150k if you can. My car has 265k kms on it but it just passed emissions and doesnt burn a drop of oil. Im sure not everyone has been so lucky though.

I checked out some dealerships today, they said that they almost never seen third-gen Camaro's, and that my best bet is through private sale. Kinda disheartening, but then I went to work and a guy that started about 2 weeks ago says he has a buddy in the area looking to sell a red, standard (!!) Camaro for, he was guessing, and didn't want me quoting him on this, 4 GRAND!!!!!!!! Apparently the car has been kept in awesome shape, so even though I'm a bit skeptical of the low price I'm definitely going to look into, as the 92's are absolutely gorgeous cars, and the fact that its standard is just sweet. How is the 92, performance wise?

Re: Which Camaro would be best...?

So you're saying that's the cause of the low price?

And what're you saying exactly, that it's physically slower or what?

i'm not sure how much of a price difference there is between US and canada, i'm assuming there more expensive in canada. but in the US, $4000 will get you a pretty descent 3rd gen. there's one on a car lot a few blocks from my house, it's a 90RS 305, 120,000 miles well maintained, garage kept, no rust and the factory paint still looks awesome and they are asking $3000. just to give ya an idea......

imo, if your looking at tpi go with 90-92. i think the 1991's had ugly rear wings but those 3 years used a speed density system which is far cheaper to service.

Re: Which Camaro would be best...?

speed density doesnt accept mods as easily as MAF systems to though.

Re: Which Camaro would be best...?

Turns out the guys buddy actually has a 1980, not a 90, but the 80's are pretty sick themselves. Plus, his buddy's brother is also selling HIS Camaro, a '79. The work guy says they're both in great condition. My concern though, is how high the kilometres are. He doesn't know, but said he'd find out for me. How high is too high? Obviously a 24-25 year old car is going to have a few. Is it not practical for me to get one of these?

Re: Which Camaro would be best...?

well, seeing as its a 1980 camaro, its carbed, so you dont have to worry about MAF vs SD systems. although i will point out that MAF does react better to certain mods, but if you are able to burn your own PROM's and know a bit about what youre doing, you have far more potental for performance than with a MAF system.

and as far as the second gen camaros, all i have to say, is it aint a TA but i get visions of smokey and the bandit all over again
