Well, I contacted Rocky-Road.com and am waiting for the guy to call me back. I gave him the measurements that I believe to be right (15x7, 40mm offset, 5.07 backspacing) and he's calling "the guys" to verify the backspacing. He's thinking it should be something more like 3.75 (I'm ballparking this number because I can't remember exactly what he said). While I'm waiting, does anyone know for sure if that number is right? Or know of a web resource I can use to verify it myself? I've screwed up once already getting new tires/wheels (-19 offset! Looks good, but rubs), and I'm hoping not to repeat. Wish me luck... I need it.
EDIT: Found 5.25 as the number for backspacing on XOC. Basically the same, eh?

7" / 2 = 3.5" distance from inner lip to centerline.
40mm = 1.575" 3.5" + 1.575" positive offset = 5.075" Now I'm wondering where the 5.25" number came from. Backspacing isn't the "authoritative" measurement anyway, offset is the one used in industry. Brent |

They guy mumbled something about manufacturing them to the nearest .25. In which case he'd want 5.0 instead of 5.25, right?
Ugh... Me cabasa!!! ![]() EDIT/UPDATE: They are thinking the 5.07 backspacing measurement is inaccurate. As a matter-of-fact they want me to find a stock wheel and measure it, then report back. Guess I'll call my local dealers parts department on Monday and get the measurements. Am I really that far off base thinking they are 15x7, 40mm offset, 5.07 backspace? Fug it. I ain't worrying about it anymore... it's the weekend!

Not to confuse
Still new in these parts, but the stock backspacing is closer to 5.25. Brent's calculation has logic, but is wrong. Example AR 767 rims that some have moved to are 15x7 4" backspacing yet 0 offset. ( from AR's site ) If I used his calculation, the b.s. should be 3.5".
I did draw up a rather lame diagram just to see visually how the rims set up. Don't know if this works > |

Schweeet diagram Xcanuk! Even if the numbers were to be wrong, the diagram really helps me grasp the concept of backspace.
Muchos gracias! :bandit:
