I could be wrong, but I always thought that installing a bulb with LOWER wattage rating would burn sockets/wiring. Because the current is of a higher wattage and the bulb isn't using all the current, causing the wires to heat. I thought a bulb with a higher wattage just handled more Again, I could be wrong, but I don't think high watt bulbs "demand" more power.

No.

Wattage = Power (Energy) being produced.

Really, I guess I'm wrong.

Oh well, in any event, I have 55W bulbs and they've been working for quite some time with no problem. The shop said to get equal to or higher than the wattage.

Wattage... err.. "Watts" is a measurement of Power aka Energy which is produced.

It is not a 'rating' or 'capacity'... it means, when your headlight bulb is powered by 12V it will produce 55 Watts of Power. (or whatever the Wattage rating is)

Now, the more 'Energy/Power' the bulb is producing, the hotter it will be and then... run into the melting issues.

Did I mention I have a degree in EE? ...that is doing me no good in my current career I might add. So much for a investing in a college degree, I'm now a web administrator

Sorry, I wouldn't have questioned you if knew that My dad was an EE major too, but I guess that didn't rub off on me hehe. I'm a humanities person myself.

Hey, on another topic, a while ago you said you might do a write up on your HS CAI and AEM BPV install. Just wondering if that was still in the works or if you decided to scrap that project.

YEP!!!! Thats very important!!!!

The metal casing on the foglight is connected to GND (black wire), if the + (red) connection touches any part of the case, it will short and you'll either blow a bulb or fuse.

About the CAI write-up.. sorry.. never got to it.
