And it all depends on year/shape/mileage/etc... sounds like you got a good deal there! Post some pix!

BTW: I'm I correct to assume you have a Z32 (90-96)? For drift, ey? I used to be all 'DRIFT Z32 FOREVER!'... but it's tough man! But it has been done! Swap? What's wrong with the VG??? RB26? I've got pix of it being done... I'm sure it's quite expensive. I was going to swap in an RB25 but that got scrapped in favor for a 3.2 liter plan plus I kinda gave up 'drifting' in my Z... if you are serious about this swap myself and a few others can help you in the 'Past Z's Forums'... this thread doesn't have much to do with 'street-racing' if you get my drift?

Cool, huh?

Re: Got a new car last night. 300ZX

Poor 300zx.......Awaiting his Unpainted body kit, probably a huge wing and an electric supercharger...sad it is..

Oh yea if you have so much money why dont you get that ugly ass prelude painted?

We're not sure what we're going to do with it yet. I was thinking a turbo upgrade and run the piss out of it at the track. I need to do more research on both cars to be able to make accurate statements about them. Since I am aware you are a 3000 owner, what is you opinion?

-Brian

Well a project car is a project car...so to each his own.
Personally, I'd say start with a vr4. The superchargers available for the N/As need more development put into them, and the one that most are anticipating wont be out for another year or two. As far as turboing or TTing it...yes it has been done, but traction issues will soon arise...so you will have alot to keep you busy. As well, you will probably need a donor vr4 and do lots of timeconsuming fabrication and such. So most say just get a vr4...it's easier and cheaper, but like a said a project car isn't necessarily a cheap and easy thing...so why not try...
Hotshot, one of the regulars in the 3000gt section, converted an N/A Auto into a TT. A FWD ATX twin turbo...and it has become one hell of a car, that still has lots of potential. If you do decide to go with the car, you might want to talk to him to get some great ideas.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

fwd 3000gt FOR DRIFT? Stick with the Z! Although a Twin Turbo FWD 3000GT would be cool! Got a link to that Igovert?

$3,000 seems reasonable enough...and $2,500 isn't THAT much lower. And maybe he hasn't painted his Prelude yet because he has to drive it around everywhere? Paintjobs don't take days to do, but if he is busy, ya it can be a problem. I don't think he's lying about the money either, but if he is....oh well.

This is partialy true. I do drive the car daily. Yet when I ordered the body kit, I ordered it and the Fenders unpainted with full intentions of repainting the entire car. After all, the paint IS 11 years old. Well upon istalation of the kit in my garage, we had realized that the part # on the rear bumper was ACC97. That means that my rear apron was for a 97' Accord, NOT a 93' Prelude. THANKS VIS! [/sarcasam] Needless to say, I had to email Simon at ViS and State my complaint. The latest is that they sent out a tracker to pick up my old bumper and ship my new one.

So for those of you who feel that my car is "imcomplete" because I don't have the kit painted, to hell with you. The car would have been painted a long time ago if it we'rent for ViS and their fuck ups.

On Topic:
Pics will be up tommorow. I work everyday, which is where I'm at now. So I have little time to do anything else.

Don't attempt to check the plate #'s, they're all outdone. The cars are in my name now.
