Re: How do I shut off Check Engine Light
Try this....it's for 2010 and 2008 but might work. There must be a sequence to turn off the trouble lights, the mechanics do it all the time.

Re: How do I shut off Check Engine Light
People... it's so easy. No tools, no dealer, no auto store.
1. Make sure your odometer is set to Trip A 2. Turn your key off 3. Hold down the odometer button 4. While holding the odometer, turn key to On The odometer will display dashes, as if counting down. When the odo flashes 0000000, you're done! Instead of $20, just give me a dollar. |

Re: How do I shut off Check Engine Light
FYI for those with a 1999 Toyota RAV4. I tried the odometer reset proc. below and it didn't work--this time it's for an oil change reminder... The following procedure does not work, does not reset, and/or does not clear the maintenance light on my 1999 RAV:1. Set your odometer display mode Trip A (or Trip B, or ODO/Odometer); 2. Turn your key off; 3. Hold down the odometer button; 4. While holding the odometer, turn key to On; (Light remains on). So, I'm going to assume the 1min battery disconnect power removal will clear the ECM/maintenance/Service/Check Engine light for my preventive maintenance reminder.
