Yeah, You'd better believe I'm hitting the track after the mods are done! Well, I'm ordering everything now and I have one final question. I'm gonna get the AGP garrett turbo, but I don't know what I should get it spec wise. Should I get the 50 trim, Dre Spec 50 trim, 60-1 or the 56 trimGT40? I think 'm gonna get the 76 trim T350 (stage 5) turbine wheel. And what the heck is this A/R ratio, and what should I get. I'm gonna get the compressor housing polished, but I also don't know about getting the welded 2" 90 degree elbow. Choices are (no, yes passengers side or drivers side) What should I get with that too. Sorry so many questions, I just wanna do this right.
Purchase Product Choose Compressor Wheel 57 trim 60 trim 50 trim ($+100) Dre Spec 50 trim ($+200) 60-1 ($+125) 56 trim GT40 ($+150) Choose Turbine Wheel 76 trim T31 (stage 3) 76 trim T350 (stage 5) ($+50) Choose Turbine Housing A/R Ratio .48 .63 .82 1.06 Polished Compressor Housing? No Yes ($+100) Welded 2" 90 degree Elbow No Yes to Driver's Side ($+55) Yes to Passenger's Side ($+55)

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
I think no welded elbow is what most FMIC's need. If you don't find out any questions, call AGP about it. I bet if you got the AGP FMIC you could work out a discount, and if not.. shipping is still less.
I'm glad Kevin says the SFP manifolds are good. I dismissed the whole garrett deal because of staying on a 2g manifold. May go back to thinking about the 50 trim. I would go with 50 trim for efficiency, or dre spec although I don't know the exact benefits. It's a street pump gas turbo. If you need bigger, 60-1 is huge, and 56 trim is huger. Again on the turbine wheels I don't know if it is worth it. Huge turbos like FP Reds usually use a housing closer to .48. Decide between faster spool or more top end on the housing. Fast spool is .48 or .63, more flow is larger. I'm sure Kevin can choose. Here's a good post for general ideas. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=156363 |

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
I would advise against the stage 5 wheel on a 2 liter. Just too damn big. I Think its only a little smaller than my O trim! By far the most common hot side is Stage 3 and .63. If you go with a 60 trim I would do this. If you go with a 50 trim, a 63 will give great boost response. But the wheel is so small you can get away with the 82 housing without a lot of added lag. And more exhaust flow equals higher Volumetric Efficiency. And higher VE means more power at the same boost. And making more power at the same boost means less knock (more boost is more heat). Etc. Its always a compromise between power and lag, and there is no magic turbo.
Another POSR guy is selling a SBR GT14, just rebuilt by AGP, about 200 miles on it. Its the 56 trim GT40 wheel mentioned above with a BB center, bolts on to stock style manifolds. Chads 60-1 for sale comes with both the 63 AND the 82 housing, so if you cant decide on a housing thats a bonus. If you do the 50 trim setup I would definitely do the stage 3 wheel and choose the housing accordingly. For what its worth, I believe the "dre spec" 50 trim has a large hot side. So the 82 is leaning more in that direction. Or you can just do the dre spec turbo. But I dont like buying turbos that I cant get the specs on, just the way I am. I have to know ![]() The elbow depends entirely on the FMIC you are going to use. The vast majority of FMICs are large side to side units, with the inlet on the drivers side. So the elbow would go to that side. For greddy, griffin, etc, its on the passenger side. If you dont know yet what you are going to run, get no elbow. You can always use a silicone elbow coupler Thats what I do. Getting a 90 welded on is too permanent, I like the option to mix it up later on if I want to. ![]() Just put up a page for Chads stuff he's selling. There might be some things there you guys can use. http://www.posracing.net/Chad.html

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
Well guys, thanks for all the help. You guys are the best. I decided I'm gonna go ahead and get the 60-1. But I need to know what turbine wheel and turbine a/r ratio I should get for it. Also, I kinda like the apg intercooler too so what do you guys think about it. They say it's a spearco.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
The AGP FMIC kit is a spearco 2-216 core, and is supposed to be really good. Be sure to ask for the greddy flange.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
Will do, I haven't ordered anything yet because I want to wait until I find out what specs I should get. I'm gonna go ahead and get the 60-1. But I need to know what turbine wheel and turbine a/r ratio I should get for it.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
I explained above how to choose based on lag vs peformance. At the least I need to know what you favor if you want me to make a recomendation. Chad has both housings for the stage 3 wheel so I can coment on both options. The difference in spool is a few hundred rpm and transient response is slower. If you are worried bout lag get the 63 housing. If you want all out power up top, get the 82. Be advised the 82s can be ery hard to find. I had to wait a couple months for AGP to find one for my T67.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
....... damn, faster spool or more power...... What a hard choice. Well, I guess I'll probably choose faster spool because it will probably be better for daily driving...... but damnit... (well, how much of a difference do you think it will make 1/4 mile wise between the 63 and 82 housing.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
Cant quantify it in terms of track perfgormance easily. If spool is an issue in the least, get the stage 3/82. You can always change housings anyway if you go big later

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
I noticed in the other thread you posted that you got the .82. Just some info, Chad said he got boost at 4200 on the 63, and 4400 on the 82. Not much difference. That was with FRH intake and cams.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
Actually the sad thing is that I get the last part in today....... Slowboy was exactly that "Slow" when sending me my 950 fuel injectors(It wasn;t there fault though. Dropshipper lost my info.) But, the UPS tracking says it'll be here today
Everything else in in and I'm waiting on the damn injectors before I start the car up cause I got the DSM LINK for 950's. Anywayz, You better believe I'll be posting updates as soon as the 100 miles breakin time on that turbo are done.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
The 950s came from FIC directly as you said. And it is well worth the wait. I have had excellent results with FIC injectors.
100 miles for turbo break in? I dont even break motors in that long Turbo should be good to go with no breakin. The bearing clearances are rather large.

Re: Hopefully last question so I can get my car going.
Don't tell me that kevin............. I promissed myself and my girl that I would break it in at least 100 miles. She said 500 but I said Oh HELL NO!!! But I tell you what, I'm doing that 100 miles the day I get it back. which is hopefully today. Right now I'm just sitting at home waiting for the ups man. I swear they come late on purpose.................
