placing the MAS in that spot would disrupt the airflow so much that it would be like stuffing the pipe with cotton.

AFR would be calculated on what the ECU sees from the air metering source.

a MAF is less restrictive, so theoreticaly you can pull more air = more HP.

i have been finding out that you can hack the 2g MAF to death practiacaly, and compensate with the SAFC [or any fuel tuning/logging setup], so my MAF thoughts were squished.
i was basically asking what are the effects of venting (i didn't think about that thread till after i made the post here).

MAFS = Mass air flow sensor, same as your "MAF", only with "S" on the end

Re: turbo intake explained?

i htink ou are confusing yourself. i have never heard of a MAFS, it is either MAF [hotwire] or MAS [honeycomb]

do a search on MAF and MAFt. you will learn more.

by venting you are releasing air from a closed system. closed being that all the air in it has been metered. thus, when you shift you will be in an induced rich situation and will cause backfires when you shift. also you may run into problems at idle, it will not hold idle and will stall in between shifts.

i was able to run it vented after a bunch of basics, intake, full 3'' exhaust w/no cat, 25 fuel pump, boost controler, and a couple other littler ones. some guy's still have problems with idle and i had some pretty large backfires occaisionaly [fire in the night... lol]

at newcelica.org, some call it a MAFS, that's where i got acronym, but that doesn't matter. i know i wasn't clear on my last post. what i meant was, if i vent the system properly, meaning with the GM MAF and translator, what would the effects be on the engine, HP, and torque? and would this setup be better then the stock setup?

Re: turbo intake explained?

As far as I know there is no difference (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The only thing is that you can vent your BOV, which makes it MUCH louder.

Re: turbo intake explained?

If doing all that doesn't really do much other than make it louder......sounds like something to do if your bored.....and want it louder
