I agree cuz you said you're using a 2000 Si tranny so it's different.

And, since you're car is an 89' go get an 88-89 Si cluster and plug it in.

Oh, and don't go racing anybody until you get a working tach cuz you will certainly have problems. My friend up north is doing that still on his new y8 swap and he's suppose to come visit me next month. I have a feeling he's gonna f*ck up his engine though.... GET A TACH!

Re: Just got my car today... and had some questions

Yeah, the 88-89 is the only one that will work for those years so make definitely sure you really have an 89. First time I took cluster apart took about 30 min. and didn't actually remove it. The last time I took everything apart and it took me 15 min. Get a pen-magnet or use magnetic screwdrivers... it makes it a piece of a cake. Oh yeah, the Si tach redlines at 6.5-7 and only goes up to 8 but it's still better than nothing...

When the engine is fully warmed it should be a little less than 1000rpm.
Redline is 8000rpm. Anyone else have more info?

LOL....thats a good one. Hey that is a very nice little sleeper you got there. My Buddy has a hatchie like yours. He has a B16 with a Edelbrock header LSD tranny Skunk2 Sprokets and some nice Cams...from JG, he also has a Type R intake Manifold, and a Mugen ECU...The car was tuned (<-----This is the most important part of all).. and he is running High 13's...He's rolling on Azenis 205/50R15 he also has the Energy Suspensions Bushings kit and a full Tien Coilover kit. The biggest thing is to get you Sus. Dialed in if you have a crappy sus you never going to run good unless you are making a shit load of power!!. Just remember you have to keep the power down on the ground!!! This is a car he comutes with everyday to and from work and school...All Motor Baby!!!!!

EF-Racing in the house!!!!

Re: Just got my car today... and had some questions

you would be surprised how fast an older civic hatch/crx could get up put a b18 with a 2.0 stroker kit and a turbo you could hit tens with it tuned right. i have a friend who has a stock 1.5 non vtec with the internals completely rebuilt, to handle boost and turbo running 15lbs he runs 10.49 off 89 octane. he just got it tuned by tempest racing its a bad ass little sleeper.
