Re: Re: Re: How many Ex-Police Impala Owners are out there? (9C1/9C3)

actually, well, I dont know about where you live, but by me, there different. the rims arent normal stock rims and they dont have those mornal cut outs in them. they are more of a solid rim with less open cut out area in them and then of course the caps. other wise I would just go out and get steel rims. ill try to get a picture of the kind i see around by me if I can.

here

well, I suppose it doesnt matter that much if I get those rims. but should those caps on the cop cars work on any steel rim, I think they would, I dont nkow exactly how they go on there, so if anyone does know how those caps go on or any info on them that would be great.

Well my impala is a 2000 Base model, and i wanted to cop it out, so i took the hubcaps off along with the wheel. I brought it into my house and drilled some holes into the stock steel rim with an electric drill. If u notice with the police center caps there are 5 lug nut holes and 3 smaller holes. The smaller holes are for screws which are what holds the caps on the rim. Just buy the caps take the tires off and drill some holes where the screws would normally be. Very simple, in all u will drill about 12 holes 3 per tire, just make sure u us the right size drill bit or u just wasted an hour and money for the caps. I bought my caps off ebay for like 30 bucks with the 5 lugs 12 screws and shipping. Hope that helped.

Re: How many Ex-Police Impala Owners are out there? (9C1/9C3)

thanks helped a lot actually so since you have dont this, I have two more questions for you. one, it looks to me that the lug nuts go on after the poilce caps, so would the lugs themselves hold on the caps? and two, did you just have to drill normal holes or did you also have to tap them with the right thread? I have a tap and die set but I doubt it has the right size if I have to do that. thanks for all the help.

lol when i got the center caps i was like hell yea! untill i saw the three samll holes for the screws and i was like shit! So i jacked my car up took one tire off at a time took a regular electric drill(think i t was a black and decker) got a stell drill bit can't remember what size and started to drill the holes. The lugs themselves don't hole the caps on unfortunately and i just drilled normal holes. The screws will work their way into the rim. I haven't had a prob with em fallin off so GL.

Got a set of 4 with 20 Lugs and 12 Screws for $30 shipping included. I was pretty lucky nobody must have wanted em that week

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...939506160&rd=1 This is a ridiculous amount but they are the only 9c1 caps for 2000 and up out on e-bay right now. U just gotta be patient and wait for a good deal. I know it sucks :/

Re: How many Ex-Police Impala Owners are out there? (9C1/9C3)

well screw that lets see some pictures with all that shit. but I must say that looks quite nice. oh and by the way, I went and got some new oem gm steel wheels for the rims and I go to drill those holes to hold on the center caps and to my surprise, the rims already had holes in them where they needed to be and with the correct thread. but who ever made those rims forgot to thread two holes one on two different rims, so now I jsut have to tap the right thread in and just like new. when I get a chance ill try to get some pictures.

New 9C1 Owner

Just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased a 2002 Impala 9C1 from the O.P.P. here in Ontario, Canada. It is a dark green with tan interior and was used as an unmarked stealth vehicle. Pretty sweet ride and handles like a dream.

It's a Caprice though, not an Impala.... Big 'ol beluga whale with the V-8 and rear wheel push. I'd like to get a small 9C1 Impy for the wife (well, for me too)

Where abouts in Ontario, guys? East, west, south? It'd be cool to get a bunch of 9C1's old and new in one parking lot and watch people rubber-neck to see what's going on

Caprices are nice... I still wish they had made the Impala at least RWD. *sigh* Michigan borders Ontario, does that count?
