Re: GT hurt

police are retards. insurance companies do not increase your premiums for an uninsured motorist claim.

btw, what state do you live in ?

Re: GT hurt

FYI if the guy has insurance his property damage liability coverage will cover it anyways.

Re: GT hurt

If he has insurance, then he has property damage liability.

Re: GT hurt

that's probably true, but since i have no idea who he is, the likelyhood of getting his insurance to pay for it is quite slim

we should get together sometime, i could use use a bit of help with some minor modifications

Re: GT hurt

you got his name/insurance information right? if so then call up his insurance company, and also yours too.

btw, know any car audio installation places in our area? The only place I know if is Red's CB in waterloo. I think I need a custom box made for my car, but don't of any other places.

Re: GT hurt

no, i didn't get his name/insurance/anything.

like i said, i went into the building. an hour and a half later, i walked out and noticed that my car was damaged.
i have no idea who did it

i know of a car audio place down by marion (can't remember the exact street), but not sure of the extent of what they do. the only time i was in there was when i was looking for some speaker cloth for a school project a few years ago.

Re: GT hurt

well since you live in Iowa (as do I) I know for sure that you don't have uninsured motorist property damage on your insurance policy (it's not available in Iowa) but if you have collision, you can have the insurance company pay out of that, but you'll need to pay the deductible.

Re: GT hurt

is there any chance that the deductable might be more than the total bill of fixing the damage?

Re: GT hurt

depends on your deductible....

usually it's either 250, 500, or 1000. See what your deductible is, get an estimate, and go from there.

Re: GT hurt

well, i went to a local body shop today for an estimate, and it turned out to be about $700.
while the guy was looking at it though, he decided he would be able to pop a spatula (that's what it looked like at least) in between the crack and allow the door to open and close.
i think i'll just keep it the way it is, aside from 3 light scracthes you wouldn't notice anything, and the rest of the bodywork isn't terribly great anyway, spotted with the ocasional hail dent.

still considering filing a police report though, in the off chance that the bastards might ever be found...
