well at tedtracey, there are wrx sedans for $14,000, $17,000+.
and most of thme are 100,000km+.
The one at the top of the post is 1994 with 77,000km. Probably $9,000 total including shipping and tax. Plus $4,000 max to fix the rear. So that it'll be under $13,000

That would be my guess. It looks like 15" rims which were changed to 16" in 96 or 97 and then upgraded to 17" in 98 I think. You could also tell by a closeup of the front brakes. Much smaller than later ones.

Its a bit tricky actually. It depends on when the particular model was first sold in Japan....In practice it means that if the car that you want was available in 1994,it must meet the required standards.

EDIT

For a full site detailing all the changes, with good links, try this one!

hope it helps!

heh man
we're talking about importing restrictions
nz won't allow you to import cars older than 1994 or 1996.
I already knew that wrx is a 1994

The restrictions are not the year of manufactor, but on what safety rating the car has.
Japan passed a law that stated that all cars sold after 96 must meet certian impact requirments. And these same requirments that our govnment has adopted.
This means that any JDM car made before 96 has a high chance of not meeting the requirments.

Please note that this does not affect private imports.

Q: Are there any other exceptions?

A: The requirement to comply with a frontal impact standard only applies to passenger cars - it will not apply to heavy vehicles, goods vans utes or 4WDs, as frontal impact standards for these vehicles have not yet been brought into force in all jurisdictions from which New Zealand vehicles are sourced.
wrx are 4wds :finger:
