Chrome is not what makes the wheel heavier. It is the thick spokes on a lot of chrome wheels that makes them heavy. I called a ton of manufacturers trying to find the difference in weight between a silver wheel and a chrome wheel of the same design and size and they all said the same thing. The difference is so small that it is not worth mentioning. So if you choose a wheel with a light design it doesn't matter if you have chrome or silver. Of course there are racing rims like Volk and Racing Hart that are lighter but that is because that is what they are designed for. Take an everyday rim that most people will buy and it doesn't make a difference.

Did you know that Mugen made chrome rims? Yeah, it's true, So do Racing Hart. Oppositely Niche makes very cool looking and very light racing rims.

StereoTyping is Bad.

Mugen... makes chrome rims!? Show me [real] pix!

And, yes... over-generalizing/stereotyping is a bad habit.

Aww geez, I don't do mugen. I don't know what they're called so I can't search. But they're extremely rare and came out a few years ago. I believe they are 5 spoke with very flat and broad spokes.
