The S15 drivetrain will fit in a US spec 240sx. That's the only US car that it will fit into without MAJOR modifications. It will not fit a front wheel drive car.

hey youngster, u said u are getting a 240SX right, well i got news for u, its only RWD! quick question, are u going to be driving this car everyday or for racing only, because i have some more news for u, an SR20DET swap in a 240SX does work out pefectly, but if u plan on modifying it, its not going to pass emissions or California smog. trust me i know, i own a 95 Nissan pickup with the SR20DET swap in it, and the only mods i could do to it to keep it street legal and still spank some ass, was a custom built exhaust and an intake system! i thought heavily about putting the S-15 Silvia SR20DET that u mentioned earlier with the 6 speed, but i was going to also drive my 240SX daily too, and had planned on moding the shit out of it, problem with that is, IT WONT PASS EMISSIONS OR CALI SMOG!!! so i stuck with the original KA24DE and put a Nsport stage 3 turbo kit and many, many, more mods! now i have a 240SX that does low 11's @ 120+ mph in the 1/4 mile, it is both emissions and smog legal in cali, and i also still get barely over 20 MPG in the city!!! i think u need to do some more research before u seriously consider a motor swap, or else you'll be hateing yourself for it majorly!:o

also about u questons about the S-15 going into a G20, good luck man, the G20 is FWD and the S-15 is for the the Japanese Silvia, which will fit perfectly in the front of a U.S. 240SX. your questons about the tranny's the S-15 Silvia is the only SR20DET with a 6-speed manual, which started production in 1999, and everyother SR20DET came with a 5-speed manual. it is easily possible to put the S-15 tranny on earlier SR20DET's like the S-13 and S-14, or otherwise called the Red Top (S-13). i wouldnt recommend the 6-speed if u are planning on moding the SR20DET, because they are notorious for breaking gears under high power. also if u are getting a 89-94 240SX from your grandma, i recommend u check out www.unstable-hybrids.com for engine swap info, but like i said earlier, if your going to mod it, its not going to pass emissions or smog. also for everyone information, the SR20DET is not the only engine that is swapable in the 240SX, the Skyline GT-R's RB26DETT is a possible swap, and unstable-hybrids is the guys that could do it, they also did a RB20DET swap in a 1st gen 240SX that was at the NOPI Nationals, it was fuckin sweet!!! to youngster, dont get me wrong about the 6-speed tranny, i have one installed on my Red Top SR in my truck and it works flawless, but u cant mod the motor or else u will pay for it! good luck, and hopefully u can get the swap of your dreams come true.
P.S. MotoRex in Gardena, California (the only Skyline dealers in the U.S.) has been workin on bringing the SR20DET's over and making them street legal while being heavily modded, u should look into this when it becomes available!:sun: |

a eclipse GSX over a 240SX, please dont sell your 240SX. i own a 96 240SX that does 1/4 miles in the 11 sec zone, and i get 20+MPG too!. the 240SX is one of the only RWD japanese cars they offered here in the USA, and its potential is very great. if i was u, i would just get a new KA24DE and start from scratch there, at least you'll still be street, emissions, and smog legal like me too! with a JDM motor, you'll be lucky if u can still have it street legal.

This is getting a little, ok a lot, off topic. But not enough credit is given to the KA motor in the 240sx. Sure its based on a truck engine but it's a friggin cast iron block! You can boost the crap out of them. I think the rods are pretty brittle but replace those and you've got a very stout platform for turboing. I've seen a couple 500+whp 240 KA's out there. Freaking torque monsters.
